The Following Data/Statistics came from the CDC and Johns Hopkins websites:
Corona-USA: 601k confirmed cases, 183 people/100k people has a confirmed case, 21 hospitalization/100k people, and 8 deaths/100k people.
2018 Flu: 48.8M cases, 14,869 people/100k had it, 150 hospitalizations/100k people, and 24 deaths/100k people.
If you assume the latest projections of +/-60,000 deaths, many of which may have very well died of a non-Corona Virus strand of the Flu, that still puts the US on par with a standard flu season.
Mitigation has lowered the numbers on Corona some, but it hasn't by that much. Where was the panic over the flu in 2018, or any given year for that matter?
If you get outside the 50 largest counties in the US, there are: 212k confirmed cases, 83/100k has a confirmed case, 10/100k hospitalizations, and 4 deaths/100k.
That accounts for 77% of the US population and the have experienced 35% of the cases.
We should sequester the most population dense areas of the country, relax those rules as data indicates you can, and put the rest of the damn country back to work!
Hopefully that will be the plan. 8>)
My main job (I work 2 jobs) just furloughed me for four weeks. Fortunately, my part-time job is essential, so I can pick up the slack there.
If you’re in Virginia sign and pass around this Reopen Virginia petition:
https://the-virginia-project.revv.co/re-openva
similar going around for other states as well
tolerance for shutdown nonsense is expiring quickly.
just watched NJ Governor Phil Murphy on Tucker Carlson. won’t end lockdown until there are no COVID cases.
the usual rubbish about testing.
tried to justify liquor stores being essential, but church services not.
THIS IS ALL POLITICS ALL THE TIME.
Nice try. Little political crap in there. They call it the ccp-virus. April 20th is the projected peak. What’s the number of the projected peak.
Dont blindly sign this.
Im glad to hear you have a back up! Bless you!
They projected the peak in Indiana for April 18 a couple of weeks ago. Then it suddenly changed to having happened on the 7th. Is it still the 20th, or has it been revised?
We here in CO are supposed to peak with 2,644 Dying on Thursday.
As of today our cumulative total is 357.
Thank you - signed and passed on to others.....
I guess it might depend on how many they want funding for as to what will be reported.
*Please*?
If we ask nicely enough maybe our betters will let us?
WTH are we begging...
I don’t know.
People, including the politicians, have forgotten that they are our elected REPRESENTATIVES, not our self-appointed overlords.
Thanks but if you are going to post such a list of stats then you should provide the links to the source.
I have the CDC morality rates for the flu per state for 2018 (13 states above 17 per 100,000 total population) and for Covid here (only one state above 17 per 100,000 people, as of April 9), and according to estimates, between 61,000 to 80,000 Americans died during the 2017-2018 season, the latter being the highest death toll in 40 years. During that 2017-2018 season, the percentage of deaths attributed to pneumonia and influenza (P&I) was at or above the epidemic threshold for 16 consecutive weeks. Nationally, mortality attributed to P&I exceeded 10.0% for four consecutive weeks, peaking at 10.8% during the week ending January 20, 2018, (https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/season/flu-season-2017-2018.htm) with older Americans dying at a rate of 169 Americans a day, or seven people per hour. (https://www.aarp.org/health/conditions-treatments/info-2018/older-flu-deaths-rising.html
It is estimated that about 80% of those infected with Covid-19 experience a mild case [WHO said the like] about as serious as a regular cold and recover without needing any special treatment. Meanwhile a study in Iceland reports that as of April 11, the country has tested 10% of its population for coronavirus - a figure far higher than anywhere else in the world - [and with fatality rate of about 0.4%] and that about half of its citizenry at any given time who have coronavirus but don't know it, will be asymptomatic (show no symptoms), which is a large percentage many experts studying the virus have suspected, but have had little firm data to corroborate.
Another report is that those who are most vulnerable to death from Covid-19 are the aged with certain other heath conditions, thus 80 percent of US coronavirus deaths are people 65 and older. Then again, America murders over 2,000 of the most vulnerable souls a day (2017: https://www.guttmacher.org/fact-sheet/induced-abortion-united-states).
It’s a PAC, it’s a petition to the state government, of course it’s political. What’s wrong with calling it CCP virus?
if you want to be taken seriously...
You should see the response rate, it’s off the charts.
It’s been taken seriously enough that the political conversation in Virginia has completely changed in a week’s time.
https://the-virginia-project.revv.co/re-openva
where is the response rate figure? I see we are gonna have a convoy soon. :-)
It’s not public. The initial mailing got a 30% open rate in the first 6 hours and over 15% followed through to sign the petition - if you’ve done political mailings before, you know these numbers are shockingly high. This is my PAC running this, in case that wasn’t clear. You can check out the full deal at https://virginiaproject.com
