First, it very well might have been in that it had the effect expected of an economic weapon of war. And it was released under a cover story that permitted the CPC to claim it WAS NOT a weapon of war and was just happenstance (i.e., the lockdown of Wuhan).
On the other hand, whether it was a weapon of war or not, it bit China and the CPC in the butt big time.
This virus has shown the world that China will lie unrepentantly to the rest if the world just to protect its image without regard to the consequences to the rest of the world.
Next, the virus has shown the rest of the world that China, because it is a communist country, is not a reliable trading partner in times of emergency, because not only does it lie whenever given the chance, it will also withhold products needed by its trading partners to fight the virus it released on the world.
In conclusion, China has shown the world that China is not a partner with the world, but a user of those to whom it pretended to be a partner. Xi and the CPC know well that communism is in an existential war with countries with representative governments. For now it is a war of economic attrition...but eventually China will have to go in for the kill.
China and Xi believe that communism must dominate the world or die.

Everytime an American looked at an item for where it was made in it came from this country (China). Now China’s reliance making everything was being threatened by a change in leadership in America which was a major consumer of those products. When Americans hailed their leaders decision to make many of them in their country US. Their politburo worried. Worse yet opponents to the Chinese regime in power had its citizens protesting its policies since that change in American leadership wave the American flag and present his name when doing so. All of which presented those in power the need to destroy that leader,
Would a runaway plague created by a nation which could threaten populations of an enemy cause them to react by demanding extreme restriction of movement by its population to prevent its spread ? Thus wind up fragmenting its economy. Sure looks suspicious particularly when crews of US naval vessels somehow wind up being infected by it.
To stop the return of manufacturing of products back to the US that went to China. China backers here who’s family members are making millions from China through their political connections will be hit hard are also claiming that Trump’s alleged stock ownership in a quinine pills maker claim its a controlling interest in a product to be totally ineffective and when used requires a severe restriction of movement when near a possible carrier known as a shutdown because of its rapid transmission .
China locked down Wuhan but let international flight in and out of Wuhan after the lock down. I draw the following conclusions:
1. It was an accidental release from that lab.
2. The government knew exactly what it was and thus quarantined Wuhan. They knew it was a bad mother.
3. The Chinese government knew it would devastate China and leave them weakened.
4. The Chinese government did not stop international flights out of Wuhan.
5. Not stopping those flights when Wuhan was under strict quarantine was a deliberate act by the Chinese government to give the virus to the world.
6. If 5 is correct and it is, this was an act of war against the world. Actually President Trump stopped those flight the same day of the quarantine. China knew for weeks what was happening in Wuhan. They allowed flights in and out despite knowing what was happening. Italy and France and Spain are paying a terrible price for Chinese perfidy.
7. The Chinese government always lies.

I share your observation on both counts. CCWV (Chinese Communist Wuhan Virus) was released by mismanagement and China must be made to pay because they allowed it to circulate.I say The reason for its creation was our change in Leadership which would bring back making many of the items allowed to be made there. Why they allowed that to happen to Italy when there doesn’t seem to be that threat (returning fabrication)when that government and even the Pope was working with them is curious.
