The Chinese government appears to be censoring research on the origins of the COVID-19 epidemic by requiring scientists to run their studies by the Ministry of Science and Technology, a since-deleted page on a university website shows.
According to a cached version of that page from the China University of Geosciences in Wuhan that Newsweek reviewed, requirements were updated so that scientists would need to have their study approved by China's Ministry of Science and Technology before publication:
"1. Academic papers on the traceability of the new coronavirus must be reviewed by the academic committee of the school before publication, focusing on the authenticity of the paper and whether it is suitable for publication. After the review is passed, the school reports to the Ministry of Science and Technology, which can only be published after the review by the Ministry of Science and Technology."

That the CCP is lying is not news to FReepers. What was interesting to me is that even the MSM can't avoid reporting it now. Is this a tipping point?

There were still some researchers and doctors who thought they were open-science researchers. They will be better controlled next time around.
I visited China (for the only time) in 2013 for a few weeks. And, I’ve talked to people who have visited since. Xi, and the surveillance state, have really turned the screws there in the intervening seven years. Or, so it seems to me.
Would a runaway plague created by a nation which could threaten populations of an enemy cause them to react by demanding extreme restriction of movement by its population to prevent its spread ? Thus wind up fragmenting its economy
Now China’s reliance making everything was being threatened by a change in leadership in America which was a major consumer of those products. When Americans hailed their leaders decision to make many of them in their country US. Their politburo worried. Worse yet opponents to the Chinese regime in power had its citizens protesting its policies since that change in American leadership wave the American flag and present his name when doing so. All of which presented those in power the need to destroy that leader,
To stop the return of manufacturing of products back to the US that went to China. China backers here who will be hit hard are also claiming that Trump’s alleged stock ownership in a quinine pills maker claim its a controlling interest in a product to be totally ineffective and when used requires a severe restriction of movement when near a possible carrier known as a shutdown because of its rapid transmission .
Not that anyone cares what I think, I’m just trying to look at the simple facts as they are revealed.
This is just one more small piece of evidence, that might support a range of different theories in the future.
But the simple fact is they’re hiding something. Which leads to some follow up questions: what are they hiding? who are they trying to hid it from? Which might point to an answer of why they’re undertaking the effort.

Carlson, who has been pretty aggressive in his coverage of the virus, pointed out a Chinese research paper (since pulled by the author) which claimed the virus could not have arisen at the Wuhan wet market because the horseshoe bats where the virus arose were not for sale at the market. In fact, the bats are not naturally found anywhere within 900 miles of the market. However, bats were being studied for viruses they carried in two labs including one just a few hundred meters from the market. The abbreviation for Bat Soup is BS~! Novel coronavirus cases could have been reduced by 95 percent had China responded to the outbreak just three weeks earlier than it did, a March 13 study by the University of Southampton has found.
