Here at the Martin Center, we often criticize university research. Rightly so.
We have noted that academic journals are too expensive. Weve argued that the publishing process itself is incoherent and slow. And that the peer review process fails to adequately vet new research. Weve shown that the funding process for scientific research often leads to perverse incentives. Weve also commented on the well-known reproducibility crisis in the social sciences.
We have also pointed out that research, especially in the humanities and social sciences, is often trendy, repetitive, or irrelevant.
But in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, university researchersworking side-by-side with entrepreneurs and philanthropistshave shown that there can be immense value in studying important problems and harnessing expertise in the name of public service.
Here are a few examples of university researchers investigating solutions for the COVID-19 pandemic and the health care crisis it has created in cities around the world:
On March 4, Bloomberg Businessweek profiled a University of North Carolina scientist who has been chasing viruses for decades [and] may hold the key to a cure. Ralph Baric is an expert on coronaviruses who works at the UNC-Chapel Hill Gillings School of Global Public Health. (Baric is also cited in this article in Nature Medicine from 2015 entitled, A SARS-like cluster of circulating bat coronaviruses shows potential for human emergence.)

The first documentary movie on CCP virus,
“Tracking Down the Origin of the Wuhan Coronavirus”
The CCP virus, which originated from China, has rampaged through the world and caused more than 80,000 deaths, infecting at least 1.4 million.
The true number of deaths and infections is unknown due to the underreporting of cases from mainland China.
In the new documentary presented by The Epoch Times and NTD, Epoch Times investigative reporter Joshua Philipp takes an in-depth look at the progression of the pandemic from January to April and leads us on a journey of discovery to bring the truth behind the matter to light.
From the Huanan Seafood Market in Hubei Province to the scandals at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, from long-running experiments on viruses to military takeovers, suspicious activities arise from every corner. Through vigorous investigations and the piecing together of hidden information, the documentary will unearth a more complete understanding of the situation surrounding the rise of this pandemic.
Suspicions uncovered from official reports and publicly available information also sprouted more questions, leading to surprising findings and inquiries.
“University researchers”
Code for DUMBASSES.
The solution is to “get exposed, get immune.”
Everything else is asinine or government overreach.
“...University researchers: Code for DUMBASSES....”
Yep. University researchers is a code word for the new liberal definition of “Professor” whose definition is DUMBASSES these days.
They want to find the “source”?....LOL...Go ask the DNC, the RAT Deep State, the shadow govt of Obama/Brennan, etc.....they’ll find the “source” sitting there on the shelf right next to the PIAPS” 30,000 emails. These “dumbasses” may be part of the coverup that’s sure to come.
I agree. I think 1/3 to 1/2 have had or already have it. The virus is much less virulent to people of a certain genetic makeup or without underlying medical conditions. Calling it the flu may have much too gentle, maybe akin to a nasty cold virus(which corona viruses are) that in some people causes a cytokine storm and pneumonia. Oh I know that triggers some of you doomers. In a few years and when the data is sifted out I think the death rate for people who actually contracted the viruses will be like .001% or less than allergic reactions to bee stings or taking too much Tylenol.
Very good documentary on the Chinese Communist Party Virus.
I saw it yesterday.
