We used to use a program called Hijack This. It's an advanced diagnostic utility. It will identify every process running on your computer good and bad. The list will be long and without experience you won't know what is what.

It really takes special training to be able to use it. Malware can be tricky to remove and needs to be done in the proper sequence. They have special tools that you can't get with your anti virus software.
