So, how did everyone like the briefing last night?

So, we’ve spent a few days hammering out the mask issue. Anyone joining late can go back and read previous days’ Q&A. Bandanas for everybody!

Some of us had a few N95s and surgical masks in our prepper closet.

Remember, if they have a valve for exhalation they are NO PROTECTION AT ALL for others. That mask only protects the wearer. It’s medical use was never intended to be more than MINUTES and then thrown away.

Wearing one of these masks repeatedly, day after day, could be worse than nothing, certainly will be worse than a clean, fresh bandana every day.

“What is this? Day 5 of Q&A? Still here, ask away.”

For those that hang out at FR 24/7, I’m guessing the above remarks might have some meaning.

You did say ask away, but not about what, so here goes.

I’ve been working on my stackmantle filter. My question is, how many times should the quagmatic buttin be pushed to get the rotating dunebriar to rotate?

Ok. I’ve been wanting to ask ...

What percentage of the total population in the contiguous US will come in effective contact with the virus?

Well, OK...

Why do meteorites always land in craters?

Why doesn’t glue stick to the inside of the bottle?

Is the speed of dark the same as the speed of light?

How can you tell when it is time to tune your bagpipes?

Thank you for directing me to another interesting bio. I might point out, we DO have a common enemy now, don’t we?

We’ve had a common enemy, progressivism, since the 1910’s.

It’s true. Previously, not being a fan of “Progressivism” in the vein of Woodrow Wilson I had hoped that in the last century we had progressed beyond where we, as a people, are “intellectually” such that things like The Flexner Report could be a “one time thing” but suddenly I see there is going to be another desperate need for a “Flexner Report” for our times. Which sort of indicates to me we may be in a “100 year cycle.”

“Some of us had a few N95s and surgical masks in our prepper closet.”

Yep, since the dirty b**b threats of the early 2000’s. Hooded Tyveks, N95 masks, good goggles, boots, duct tape, lots of furnace filters & potassium iodide tablets. Plus always well stocked and biannually rotating. (Old Boy Scout style - Be Prepared).

From this thing, I’ve added disinfectants to the stock and my furnace UV light is on the way (backordered).

BTW - Denatured alcohol works on surfaces, not so nice to skin. In paint or camping department. $8/gallon by me. Use in a plastic spray bottle.

Why do meteorites always land in craters?

The magnetic diflux of the phosphorylating layer of astroidal tending matter always attracts them to the lowest depression.

Why doesn’t glue stick to the inside of the bottle?

Glue is bottled in an outside-in fashion...therefore, once squeezed out, it reverts to it's normal inside-out state, allowing the sticky properties to be revealed.

Is the speed of dark the same as the speed of light?

Yes...but in reverse.

How can you tell when it is time to tune your bagpipes?

When mosquitoes no longer bite you and when squirrels run from the sound of the horrid things.

Or when bystanders bleed more than usual from the ears.

Anything else you need to know...I know it all.

How many masks would you expect the average medico/nurse to go through daily?

In my experience, as I posted yesterday, after working in a good number of 1,000 bed plus hospitals in several urban centers that “usually” these hospitals would have only a handful of patients requiring Isolation. Not even a half dozen, and those would be for TB, i have seen them put wound patients on Isolation for Methcillin Resistent Staph.

Outside each of these special negative pressure rooms you would see an “Isolation cart” with gowns, masks, and gloves. Every time anyone entered that room for any reason they would have to “gown up”. 3 x a day for meals, 4 times a day for “vital signs” another trip for delivery of any MEds, etc. EVERY TIME any one entered would require a fresh, complete set.

I’ll still be here but there will probably be a bit of a break while the wife and I watch our SIL’s message to his congregation this morning.

Ha! I bought a pair of the HVAC UV lights early, I have them, I just did a system replacement. Waiting until after the final inspection to install.

And your post brought up a URL memory. These guys are still around:
