On March 16, President Trump announced public health guidelines to slow the spread of Coronavirus in America. He asked every family to unite against this invisible enemy, making changes to our daily routines as part of a national effort to save lives.
Thanks to you, it’s working. So many communities, small businesses, and Americans from all backgrounds are patriotically doing their part. President Trump knows these changes are difficult on many. To help as much as possible, he signed unprecedented economic relief into law last week, including major support for small businesses and workers.
As he said on Monday, it’s likely that a peak in Coronavirus fatalities will arrive in about two weeks. If we continue to follow public health guidelines vigorously, we could save more than 1 million American lives in the weeks and months ahead.
A million American lives are worth fighting for. That’s why this week, President Trump extended his Coronavirus Guidelines for America through the next 30 days.

“Our country is in the midst of a great national trial, unlike any we have ever faced before,” the President says. “We’re at war with a deadly virus. Success in this fight will require the full, absolute measure of our collective strength, love, and devotion.”
Each of us has the power, through our choices and actions, to protect our fellow citizens and rescue the most vulnerable among us. We’re all in this fight together.
By slowing the spread of Coronavirus, America is more prepared than ever to overcome it. Following President Trump’s National Emergency declaration last month, all 50 states are working closely with the Federal Government to ensure local needs are met. This coordination has allowed FEMA to identify and expedite access to much-needed medical supplies in each state.
Social distancing is clearly doing its job to help, Dr. Anthony Fauci said yesterday. “The reason why we feel so strongly about the necessity of the additional 30 days is that now is the time, whenever you’re having an effect, not to take your foot off the accelerator—and on the brake—but to just press it down on the accelerator.”
America will beat this virus. That’s only possible because of your patriotism and selflessness. Over the coming month, we can build on the progress we’ve made and answer President Trump’s call with love, courage, and ironclad resolve.

So, Trump is pushing the 1+ million lives lost narrative? Does anyone believe we would have lost 20-40 times the normal flu death count due to COVID-19 if we had just practiced better hygiene and social distancing rather than shut down the country? I honestly don’t know.

He’s learned to manage expectations more realistically and credibly. I wish he learned earlier.

But the 300 + millions be held hostage and many of those breadwinners appear to be less important. They also will lose many to death as well. Does not compute, in my opinion.
Hey, I am not happy about it. Unfortunately, when the democrats ask people to compare their situation now to before Trump, it will be difficult for Trump to come out ahead in the middle of a depression, with unemployment in the 25 - 30% range.

I am now even fighting those on our side. We are burning the country down and driving the Socialist stake into America. The virus will run its course but taking back lost liberty never happens in today’s society.
Trump has given in to the fraidy-cat socialists. They will destroy the economy and then squawk about the few people they saved from a virus.
Trump is as fallible as the next guy.
I doubt he’s given in to fraidy-cats. Instead, he can see the economic engine has derailed and needs a defense in the fall campaign, if it doesn’t bounce back quickly.
I don’t think he needs any cover for this, as it was completely out of his control.
He stepped in appropriately. There will be a large bounce-back and then building right up to November.
That’s where you’re wrong I believe. Focused small scale and regional-type quarantines would have been far superior. We wouldn’t have this huge of an upset to our economy and people’s lives if that had been done.
The MRS and I, while both thankful for being critical/essential workers, now get to home school our children in Fairbanks. Sucks. Oldest kid laid off his job. Know many others laid off. Waiting on scraps from the government in 3 weeks.
I hope you are right about the rebound though.
