Here’s a sincere answer. I have Diabetes, and I’ve suffered two heart attacks. I have no insurance. I take care of my elderly mother everyday, who is also at great risk if she gets this.
You are correct that I am staying home, and would do so anyway regardless. I am not ruining the lives of anyone, and I do not view Dr. Fauci as an enemy.

You do realize that the entire effort of ‘flattening the curve’ doesn’t really change the area under curve don’t you? The same number of people that would have gotten infection are likely to get infected eventually.

All of a sudden, he is uber important, and only because of, and to the extent that people are concerned about, coronavirus. If it goes away, he goes away.
It's only natural for him to stress things that keep him important and downplay things that would make him irrelevant. This doesn't make him an enemy but rather as someone to view cautiously.
