I’ve heard it was Chinese tourists, but either way it was likely them.
There are >300K in the textile and leather industries in Northern Italy.
Some talk about them going home for the Chinese holidays and bringing it back, but others have mentioned many Chinese probably traveled home during the traditional Christian holidays too.
I know some on FR were aware, but I for one had no idea that Northern Italy had such a Chinese population (legal or illegal) before this virus crisis hit them so hard.
They’re an internal vector.
Italy has about 350k legal immigrants a VERY large amount of them own corner dollar stores (they’re called “Chinese stores” in Italian, mainly in the northern Milan/Lombardy Region) and what time of year are they most likely to go visit the homeland? Chinese New Year.
Then, they fly back to Italy (or Iran, or Spain), mingle with the illegal population and it spreads like wildfire.
What bad could possibly come from allowing hundreds of thousands of third worlders wo move within your society?
Italy even did hug a Chinese day when it was starting up in Wuhan.

Listen, if the collective free world does not come together after this and relegate the CCP (not the people) to the ash heap of history then they will continue to be the festering boil upon the globe, just waiting to unleash their infectious disease again. This influx of illegals into Washington State is just what I suspect happened to drive up the death toll so fast. However, try to get any information about race in the infected cases.

I’ve traveled to Italy several times in the last two decades. In talking to shop owners, Italian leather goods sold in Italy need to be made in Italy. Somewhere along the way, someone decided to bring in tens of thousands of Chinese to make leather goods, that could be called ‘Italian Leather’.
When you shop on the streets, store owners will warn you what shops are ‘China Leather’ and after comparing the quality, it’s not too hard to tell the difference.
PS - I never got a stinking dime back from the VAT taxes, they were suppose to reimburse when I left the country.
A few months ago, they kicked out Matteo Salvini who had stopped illegal immigration. He was gone when the virus attacked. It’s hard not to see the connection.
