[vanity] U.S. COVID-19 deaths outside NYS increasing by 18% per day - no systematic flattening
data from Wikipedia | Mar 22, 2020 | self

Hat tips to wattojawa for pointing out that New York was trending differently than the rest of the country, and to SaxxonWoods and FreeReign for pointing out that death rate was a better measure of speed of spread, since case count is determined in part by breadth of testing.

Many more people being tested because it was behind.

This is exactly what they said would happen.

Don’t listen to this nonsense.

New york has the bulk of the tests for now.

Testing is increasing and more widespread every day. So the numbers are going to go up.

The data I can find off Wikipedia lines up with what's on Wikipedia. Do you have a better source for NYS deaths?

I cited deaths, not positive tests.

No. Have you tried the NYS Dept. of Health? Point is that we really shouldn’t be relying on data points that could be manipulated. Go to the source.

It’s too early to expect flattening anyway. To panic over no-flattening anywhere in the next 3 weeks and probably 4 or 5 weeks is silly.

Noble and free huh? And listening to the data from the left Wikipedia wonderful. I have posted many times on data and its sources and the agendas. But somehow many of us at freepr still fall prey to it.

To panic over no-flattening

Who's panicking?

Too many people in too little space, very unhealthy. It can’t last forever.

It will take at least 14 days from the onset of social distancing to see a difference in the curve.

“Testing is increasing and more widespread every day. So the numbers are going to go up.”

Sure. Stop the testing and deaths would decrease?

“Testing is increasing and more widespread every day. So the numbers are going to go up.”

Why would deaths go. up with more testing?

The cases you see today are where the virus was about 2 weeks ago.

We’ll have to wait 2 weeks to see where the virus is today.

Much of the spread happened before major areas went to a total lockdown. We are only finding about it now. The effect of the lockdown won’t be clear for another two to four weeks

Plus deaths significantly lag infection—and hopefully will be tempered by improving treatments.
