ROFL...that one’s even better!! I can see why Liz likes it. One of the best experiences I had was being able to visit the D-Day Landing Beaches in Normandy. There were only two reasons I went to Paris. The first being able to easily get a tour to Normandy, and secondly, being able to visit The Louvre. My impression of Paris was that the only thing different between it, and New York City, was that the buildings were older. Same traffic mess, same smell.
$25 donation to FR that Cuomo is not.
Let's think about this a minute. Some FReepers are posting FAKE NEWS that Cuomo said the shutdown in NY could last 6-9 months. Assume that's true.
What do you think the unemployment rate will be if that happens?
And then Dems will nominate him to run for President.
And he will run on the platform of what? "I shut the down the NY state economy for 6-9 months - and increased unemployment to 10%, 15%, 20% in my state"
Really?
Hillary's a Jello dinner casserole - nobody will ever eat one again and today we find it hard to believe that anybody ever wanted to.
Great. What was your impression of the D-Day Landing Beaches. What sticks out in your memory? My Dad was there as Gunner’s Mate on one of the those LSTs at Omaha Beach.
I felt the tour was excellent. It was a full day. Our tour guide was French, but she spoke very good English, and was very knowledgeable about WWII history. The tour started in Caan with a visit to the museum there. We had a wonderful catered lunch upstairs in the museum, then spent the rest of the day visiting the various sites. We went to Pointe-du-Hoc first, and that was very interesting with the remains of the German bunkers, and the bomb craters still in place. We also went to Utah and Omaha Beach, and Arromanches where the Mulberry artificial harbor was built. There are still parts of it to be seen. We then went to the American Cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer. It’s the same cemetery that was featured in “Saving Private Ryan.”
Great, thanks for the explanation. Certainly sounds like a great place to go.
Last year I visited LST 325 when it visited Chatanooga. Very worthwhile experience as well.
My Dad was also at the Battle of Okinawa. But I served in the Navy for 3 years in Sasebo, Nagasaki Prefecture in Japan. The U.S. Navy ammunition depart there was a converted Japanese WW2 depot. I had the time of life there in Japan (the dollar was much stronger in the early 80s.
And I met my wife there who was a Japanese tour guide.
I’m originally from Massachusetts — Cape Cod. Lived in Newton and Sudbury for 20 years after the Navy.
Abrams is a totally unqualified leftist wacko-bird. She still hasn’t conceited her loss for Governor. Claims today the process was rigged.
Bring her on. Mike Pence will dispose of her very quickly.
Thank you for your service. Although my screen name is mass55th, I’m not from there. Born and raised in Rochester, New York but I’ve lived mostly in the Utica/Rome area since 1973. I use that screen name as I spent many years researching the 54th and 55th Massachusetts Infantry Regiments, the first black regiments raised in the North. Although my research and Civil War interest has waned, I still use the screen name. The Colonel of the 55th was Alfred Stedwell Hartwell. He was born in Natick, and after the war, got his law degree, and ended up in Hawaii working for the King. He married the daughter of a missionary, and they raised their family there. He eventually served on the Hawaiian Supreme Court.
