Live tracker: How many coronavirus cases [and testings] have been reported in each U.S. state?
Politico ^ | Updated 03/20/2020 12:40 PM EDT | Beatrice Jin

111,638 tests given; 12,397 positive; 194 deaths... With the help of The COVID Tracking Project — a volunteer-run accounting of every coronavirus test conducted in America — we’re monitoring how many Americans have been tested in all 50 states. We will update our numbers as new results come in.

The data isn’t perfect. Since the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention hasn’t yet begun publicly releasing the number of people who have been tested, The COVID Tracking Project is pulling data from state health departments, which can vary in the way they report tests and infections...

New York

22,284 tests | +19,084 since last week 4,152positive 12deaths

Washington

17,105 tests | +12,298 since last week 1,187 positive 66 deaths

California

9,711 tests | +8,593 since last week 924 positive 18 deaths

New Jersey

1,026 tests | +799 since last week 742 positive 9 death

Illinois

3,151 tests | +2,733 since last week 426 positive 4 deaths

Florida

2,942 tests | +2,193 since last week 390 positive 8 deaths

Louisiana

805 tests | +732 since last week 347 positive 8 deaths

Michigan

2,449 tests | +2,274 since last week 336 positive 3 death

Massachusetts

3,132 tests | +2,917 since last week 328 positive 0 deaths

Their numbers are from yesterday, so they are WAY behind.

Page said updated 03/20/2020 12:40 PM EDT. The figure now says 16,064 positive . You will find different numbers based upon the source, with CC showing higher numbers than others.

Currently,

New York TimesAs of Friday afternoon, at least 15,650 people across every state, plus Washington, D.C., and three U.S. territories, have tested positive for coronavirus, according to a New York Times database, and at least 202 patients with the virus have died. - https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/us/coronavirus-us-cases.html

cdc.gov: Total cases: 15,219 Total deaths: 201 - https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/cases-updates/cases-in-us.html?CDC_AA_refVal=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cdc.gov%2Fcoronavirus%2F2019-ncov%2Fcases-in-us.html

As for politico, it states,

Since the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention hasn’t yet begun publicly releasing the number of people who have been tested, The COVID Tracking Project is pulling data from state health departments, which can vary in the way they report tests and infections.

We update the full dataset each day between 4pm and 5pm EDT and do additional updates throughout the day as new information arrives.

Where do you get your data?

All our information comes from state/district/territory public health authorities—or, occasionally, from trusted news reporting, official press conferences, or (very occasionally) tweets or Facebook updates from state public health authorities or governors. We cite all sources in the spreadsheet and discuss the dataset’s constantly fluctuating oddities in the annotations that accompany each state’s data on our website and in the spreadsheet.

Sometimes I think this is all a HULLABALU.. I saw one guy who tested postive for the virus, and he thought it was a cold, and had no adverse affects. I wonder how many thought they just had FLU..or a cold, and never got tested and got well. Hopefully someday we’ll get to the bottom of this ‘scare’, and find that someone was tweaking the MSN buttons, trying to throw an election, like the Russians intervening were actually the news anchors on major news networks who despised the Trump economy. Hasten the day.

Actually, until testing is comprehensive in all states of all who report symptoms over at least a 2-week period, and make warranted estimates of how many are infected but do not report it, then we will not know if cases are actually increasing and how much, and what the death rate is.

Good catch. NJ: 1,026 tests given; 742 positive; 9 deaths. Way out of line with most of the rest. Except Alabama, which shows 96 tests given; 68 positive; 0 deaths. On the other end: New Mexico: 2,797 tests given; 35 positive; 0 deaths.

Also of interest is population density compared with infections of states.

“I find this interesting given the current climate which at times seems to be bordering on hysteria.”

I don’t think it is “bordering” - it has already become hysteria. People have taken total leave of their senses. Like your governor. What kind of a nut is he? He thinks 25.5 million Californians are going to get Covid-19? He is almost as nutty as our governor! I will be tracking Grusom’s prediction and tweeting it to him so he can see how much of a nut he really is.

Our local conservative talk-show hosts on KVI have been horrible. I got so mad at what they saying yesterday that I called into the 6-9am show. What he said was that Covid-19 is 10x as lethal as the flu. There is absolutely no way to know that - no matter how many times Dr. Fauci states it. Whether one agrees with Ron Paul or not, he was correct when he said there was no scientific basis to declare that. Why? Because all known cases have to be resolved (recovered or fatal) before the Case Fatality Rate (CFR) can be calculated. And no one knows how many adults actually get the flu, because it is not a reported infection for adults. That is why the CDC only estimates (22,000 - 55,000) deaths for this year. The host also said the difference between Covid-19 and the flu is that there is a vaccine for the flu. All well and good, but even the flu vaccine is only about 50% effective.

Anyway - hysteria will rule the day until it is shown that this coronavirus is seasonal. At least four of the seven known coronaviruses fall into the category. We’ll see.

Ok - I’m done... :)

I keep trying to figure out the COVID-19 death rate from stats flashed on Fox News screens. This morning, I got 1.4%. Last week, it was 1.9%.
Trying to figure out, because I forget the numbers by the time I get my calculator.

Michigan is up to 787 cases as of Sat., March 21. Ohio has 247 confirmed. Do not know if Michigan has just done more testing or if DeWine’s super fast restrictions slowed the cases.

Michigan has had 5 deaths (All of them in Wayne and Oakland counties), and Ohio 3. Ohio is a little behind with updates. (March 20) Michigan’s death rate is five, but four of those cases had underlying health problems. There are 349 cases in Wayne county alone.

Comparing the two because I work in one and live in another, plus one has a Democrat governor and the other Republican.
