Two years after banning so-called assault weapons, Dicks Sporting Goods has announced it will now eliminate the hunting section and all firearms from a majority of its stores.
The retailer made the announcement while reporting better-than-expected fourth-quarter earnings Tuesday, according to Fox Business.
Apparently emboldened by increased sales of baseballs and outerwear, Dicks will stop selling firearms in 440 of its stores and completely eliminate the hunting section in those locations by the end of this fiscal year.

I walked into a Dick's last night for the first time in months. When I walked into the hunting section, I was surprised by the barrenness of the shelves. I'm guessing this is one of the stores that is ticketed to have hunting stuff pulled.
I didn't buy anything. The last purchase I made at Dick's was some camping stuff with a gift certificate that I had from some purchases that I had made prior to Dick's pulling their handguns. Academy gets my outdoor purchases now. I'll never buy anything at Dick's that I can buy elsewhere.

[Dick’s Balls and Bats boutique.]
I bought a golf glove at Dick’s about 2004. I think I bought some 25lb dumbbells about 2008 or 2009.
And that’s about the last time I went there.
Don’t miss Dick’s Sporting Goods at all. They’re pretty much like Target. Places I choose to avoid.

Years ago I went into a Dick’s Sporting Goods to purchase a jogging bra. It was $42.99!!! I didn’t buy it but went next door to TJ Maxx and bought an almost identical one (same brand but maybe from the last year) and paid $6.99.
Never went back.
I hope they go out of business.

Dicks should just shut down.

Wow. Hope it doesn't hurt them. I frequent the Dick's here in Orange Park as a quick way to enter the mall just next to the shop I need to go to.
If the mall goes Dickless, I'll have to walk around.

I cleaned our local Dicks out of .22 LR and 12 gauge trap loads a while back. Remington Golden 550 bulk pack at $14 per. #8 trap loads at $50 a case.
They lost money on that.

The only good thing about Dick's in Tupelo is that it is a shortcut into the rest of the mall.

They're dumping hunting and a large portion of the fishing departments because the folks that buy that stuff left years ago. They got Woke-went Broke and now the unproductive lines are being deleted.
Fortunately, they were never a big player in the shooting segment anyway. Take your business elsewhere; support your community businesses or shop the vast selection available online. But cancel Dicks.

Dicks is insanely expensive. But given this news, I think Ill be going in there again, just to ask them where the hunting department is.

A few years ago, when dicks stopped selling AR-15s I had a couple of hundred dollars worth of gift cards that my family had given me for Christmas, birthdays etc.
I went in and bought ammo {that they had on sale for 50% off}.
I got 357, 38, 22 and shotgun ammo for a real bargain.
I turned in my dicks card and haven't been back.
There are many places to buy what dicks sells and I won't be supporting businesses that denigrate me.
