General Motors (GM) recently announced it was investing billions into a new eco-friendly electric car initiative to compete with the tech giant Tesla in an effort to go green, and tech media outlets are touting the change. Both Axios and The Verge ran stories March 4 on GMs $20 billion bet over the next five years on its new green initiative. And while Axios questioned the stability of GMs commitment, and The Verge tried to play gotcha by criticizing how the companys past positions have aligned with the policies of President Donald Trump, the outlets appeared to like the shift in focus for the car manufacturer.

In KY, electric means “powered by coal”. And some natural gas...
The idiot woman CEO of GM is a AGW true believer. I’m betting she was lined up when Obongo took the company over. She will send them back into bankruptcy and there will be no saving them this time.
Better unload your GM stock. Electric cars use more energy than modern gas powered vehicles, and there is no evidence that increased CO2 levels have anything to do with rising world temperatures. To spend $$ on these is a waste of resources (and your dividends).
That’s ok there will be no GM’s in my future money spending - ever again
Let’s not forget that it was General Motors that bought the Los Angeles trolley system, scrapped all the trolleys, pulled up all of the tracks and replaced them with dirty, smelly GM buses.
They didn’t quite get all the trolleys and a few Pacific Red Car survivors are still around. I will laugh my arse off if a Pacific Red Car outlives the corporation that tried to kill it.
Have not seen one of those things in years. If I am not mistaken, they tried teflon coated cylinders and it was a flop.
GM going green? Those guys only give 50K milage warranties on their sealed wheel bearings! I’ve owned chevys since 1982 and my current daily driver is a 20 yr old Suburban, BUT I can do a lot of the repairs myself and the parts are cheap. I am convinced the business model is about rental cars and 3 yr leased cars. They don’t care after year three.
