I would tend to agree...

If one is looking holistically at an issue then all attributes are data points that help the evolution of the nature of the issue.

Not exactly the same but if one reads broadly about this malady, I note that it more typically seems to impact the same demographic (Elderly) who have compromised/weaker immune systems.

This is not a universal truth or factor yet, but as one who has spent much of my career in root cause analysis all data points and circumstances need to be included in the overall model and remediation path.

Some here on this thread feel it is cigarette smoke that is the culprit, sounds like a personal thought but if one extrapolates from that then pollution in the air breathed daily can be a factor. China has a big airborne pollutant and particulate issue so discounting this would be silly.

Once infected then as the immune system does in normal function of respiratory situations is to expel them in mucous, both dead material as well as live ones in the mix. An abundance of mucous as a result of the battle can in serious cases essentially “drown” the impacted individual and prevent normal lung function.

This of course is my own opinion and no stone should be left unturned, and to assume otherwise fulfills itself in the admonition to never assume...

It merely makes an Ass out of U and Me

” which begs the question of why the Chinese appear to have made a bioweapon that targets Chinese.”

The Hong Kong protests were not stopping. There was a realistic threat it could spread to inland cities. Tienanmen Square II was not very feasible. In 1989 China could flip a finger to the world. Today, not nearly so much.

I don’t know if they made the virus, but it sure as a handy tool to lock down China and Hong Kong. Tanking the stock market was a nice bonus as the only possible anti-Trump weapon left too.

Imagine the worst from government and you will never be far from the truth. This is true in spades for communist countries.

Because Chinese travelers are nudgy and obnoxious and are not truthful about their movements and whereabouts. Chinese travelers are the WORST. That is a FACT. They’re avoiding the media at airports and say that it’s NOBODY’S BUSINESS where they’re coming from or where they’ve been. Chinese nationals are now taking flights from Bangkok or Sydney into the US — some from the Wuhan Province — and trying to disappear in the US without being detected.

Well you should research it then

I’ve got no reason to lie but admittedly I’m less bound by racial niceties than most here..

Don’t use google they are already top loaded with Chinese victims of racism crap

Men appear to die easier too apparently ....does that offend folks like saying orientals get worse symptoms

Disease and genetics per race isn’t new

Sickle Cell

Tay Sachs

Cystic Fibrosis ....much higher in white babies

Yes the big danger is a threat to our cheap medicine ..well some it is cheap...supply

Age is most important factor.

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/coronavirus-age-sex-demographics/

I did read a study a few days back that the elderly, Asians, and men were most susceptible to the virus.

We aren’t hearing about it though other than to say racism is bad an it’s all Trump’s fault.

Leftists complained when Trump stopped the flights from China. Then say now he’s not doing enough. They’re celebrating the stock crash on twitter. Real disease we need a cure for is leftism.

Two people in a nursing home in Kirkland, WA have also tested positive. Neither has done any traveling in recent months.

Last I heard, there were more like 50 people at the nursing home (patients and staff) who have shown symptoms. Obviously they are not all Chinese. Apparently not everyone has been tested yet.

But obviously, there's a common denominator here -- they came in contact with SOMEONE who had been exposed.

The common denominator is that they all have been in the nursing home. There must have been one original carrier. Since people in nursing homes are not very mobile, it seems likely that was a staff member. Epidemiologists are undoubtedly checking out the connections of people who work there.

Why would you even ask this question? Just makes our side look bad.

What? Asking a question makes someone look bad? Ridiculous.

There are ethnic and race differences in disease incidence rates and prevalence rates. Sex differences too.

I seriously doubt that any studies indicating the racial susceptibility to this virus will be available for months. Unless it just becomes obvious that 80% of the people showing up in the hospital are Asian in this country.

Can you show one solid fact that it targets Asian’s more than other races? Fact not opinion?

If it did why would it matter? We have a huge problem on our hand either way.

The Chinese intentionally crashed their own stock market?:

The Chinese never struck me as the suicide bomber type... ;-)

Not just race, but are they even legally Americans????

Inquiring minds want to know. ESPECIALLY from a “sanctuary state!

I really don’t understand your post. Certain diseases are more common with certain races. That is just a fact.

Sickle cell was thought to have evolved to combat malaria. Guess who gets it more than Caucasians?

One in 12 African Americans carry the sickle cell gene.

Asians have an Ace2 issue in their genes. Males more than females. There is plenty of info about this on the internet.

Asians get a disorder that I have that is thought to evolve from combating malaria. It’s an ethnicity gene. Caucasians get this gene more than sickle cell gene but 1 in 12 caucasians do not have this gene like 1 in 12 blacks have sickle cell. Both of these disorders are hemoglobin disorders.

Asian Males are more susceptible to getting Wuhan Flu because of the Ace2 receptor issue.

So yes RACE/GENES are an issue

If you were studying susceptibility to severe sunburn, being Irish or being from Southern Italy makes a huge difference. I guess saying so makes me a racist.

Thoughts?

Why would that matter....?

Do you want to put them in interment camps ?

I do believe there is a race component to this virus. It appears (if the news out of China is half way right) it spreads like wildfire among Asians.

I do not see that spread in Caucasians nor do I see the severity of the disease.

Does not appear to target blacks either.

Not to say it doesn’t or won’t affect us, just that it seems to hit Asians harder. I don’t think that’s racist, I think it’s logical.

Suppose the Chinese are much more susceptible to this disease?

Unless everyone else is immune it is irrelevant.

In fact, in that scenario non-Chinese are _much_ more dangerous because they would be more likely to be carrying and spreading the disease without symptoms!

That’s pretty much where we are...simply stats and observance

If you expect science in today’s world to spend money to prove my proffer that will never happen unless it could be blamed on Europeans

They will however spend zillions to disprove it

And another zillion to blame Trump

But now if you dig you can see who is sick from it

Believe me the instant they think whites have it on parity with Chinese it’ll be headline after headline

But then the clarion will be “now that whites have racist Trump might pay attention”

Tell me I’m lying..

Btw I’m not blaming anyone

Disease happens

And tends to start in impoverished areas like the third world especially the dark Congo

Or somebody messing around tinkering screwed up like 12 Monkeys ...either on purpose or just an error

“Because Chinese travelers are nudgy and obnoxious and are not truthful about their movements and whereabouts.”

That’s true. I think them coming from a crowded society somehow makes them among the rudest people and most selfish people on earth. They simply do not care about anything or anyone around them.

Another example is the people downing fever reducers before pre-flight screening.

I am part of that demographic

In today’s lexicon I am “Melanin deficient”

Oh No, the sky is falling!

Great post, thanks
