Trump Unleashes Shock Move to SPEED UP Border Wall Construction, Democrats Stunned

The Trump administration stunned Democrat lawmakers and immigration advocacy groups Wednesday, announcing it will waive federal contracting laws to greatly speed up construction of a wall at the U.S.-Mexico border.

The Department of Homeland Security said waiving procurement regulations will allow 377 miles of new wall to be built far more quickly in California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. The 10 waived laws include requirements for having open competition, justifying selections and receiving all bonding from a contractor before any work can begin.

By one estimate, the time to complete this huge section of wall could be cut by 80% due to this unprecedented maneuver.

The acting Homeland Security secretary, Chad Wolf, is exercising authority under a 2005 law -- then passed with bipartisan support -- that gives him sweeping powers to waive laws for building border barriers.

Since that time, of course, Democrats have changed their tune on a border wall. But it's too late -- the law is in place, and Trump is taking full advantage of it!

Not to throw a wet blanket on this great news, but why wasn’t this done two or three years ago?

There's always one...

It's most likely COR-TEN Weathering Steel. It's specifically made to get a protective corrosion layer. It prevents the steel from underneath from corroding further.

IMO, we may never fully stop the inflow, but...having a faucet reduced to a trickle is a lot better than a broken water main being ignored. Think of the money this country will save. I would like to think that factored a great deal into getting it built. I have read estimates of $45 billion (Leftist estimates) up to $250 billion wasted each year on the effects of allowing unlimited invasion in a welfare state and the associate crime and costs...if the fence costs $50 billion to make (that was the last estimate I remember seeing) it will be WELL worth the expenditure.will save. Partner, we know the wall will get reduced "Riff Raff" coming across our Border. They are breaking our laws by going across the border.

You are so correct that these Illegal Aliens will reduce our costs of Welfare and the associated crime that it brings to our communities.

We have so many Illegal Aliens right now.

I admit that I fully envision how government bureaucratic inertia prevented anyone from doing anything meaningful for decades...but it is no real excuse.

In doing this, President Trump has demonstrated his real dedication to following up on promises he has made!

Thank goodness.

Partner, u hit a homerun with this statement.

We are finally doing something about the FISA court system which there has been too many Illegal activities going on in this FISA court. The FISA court was established to not have any Illegal activities going on and this FISA court needs to be revisited again to stop this Illegal nonsense by our own FBI. Christopher Wray is in charge right now and if he knew anything Illegal going on then he must leave is FBI post, period and end of story. We will replace him with someone who is loyal to the U.S. Constitution.

We should never ever had anybody doing anything Illegal to President Trump prior to the 2016 Election and afterwards also. It seems like we had a lot of Illegal activity going on between our own FBI which is James Comey and Andrew McCabe and maybe Christopher Wray. Also, Brennan and Clapper need to be investigated since they did a lot of illegal activity. I am glad that Miss Hillary will now be investigated fully.

I agree completely about the FISA court. I don’t care how many safeguards we put in place to prevent the abuses that took place, we can put more in place and the Left has proven they will sidestep them without even missing a beat.

Rules are only valid for those who are inclined to obey them.
