This doesnt answer the perennial question of which species is better, cats or dogs? but it definitely settles the issue of which species is more badassery.
In other news: my nephew poochie is home and resting as comfortably as one can in the dreaded cone of shame. My sister wont have the test results until late next week but the vet said the surgery went well and the tumor appeared to be encapsulated which is a good sign. So thank you, everybody, for the doggie prayers.
On the kitchen front, Raj and I are cooking pheasant tonight for the neighbors. I dont as a rule cook wild things as my tolerance for gamey flavor is limited. I have a staple of venison dishes that ameliorate that issue and Ive done both elk tenderloin and an elk roast that turned out delicious. On the other hand some farm raised lamb is too gamey for my taste: I prefer the New Zealand because its milder and fully recognize that it is unconscionable on my part to eat meat with such a large carbon footprint.
But back to the dinner dont ask; I would normally not take on the preparation of wild birds. These were shot by our neighbor, which means bird shot. In the birds. Rajs job is all the prep work which at this point involves a stud finder and a strong, neodymium magnet.
Im not a very happy camper but like many tales involving doing things you dont really want to do its a long story that involves a fair degree of human drama that I cant elaborate on but we got sucked into. The upshot (no pun intended) being a pheasant dinner in our dining room tonight. I dont like gamey things so this is the recipe Im using. I figure I can fill up on sauce and mashed potatoes.

Finally, dont miss Kurt Schlichters latest on the stupidity of socialism and socialists who promote it: You Bernie Suckers Are Going to Get Fooled Again. Let me briefly address your whiny protests.
Yes, I say socialist like its a bad thing. This is because its a very bad thing. Like, to the tune of 100 million corpses bad thing. Ive actually lived in the ruins of socialism and you, well, you had a man-bunned sociology TA tell you it was swell. And you believed him because you are a dupe. Be glad that I am assuming that you are stupid instead of the only other reason one would ever cavort with these blood-stained goblins: that you are evil.
Ive got to go brine my birds so have an enjoyable day wherever you are.

An adult cat slaps the crap out of a puppy and it us considered badass?
Every day I see “hilarious” videos of cats clawing dogs in the face and eyes.
Not sure what kind of mind finds that amusing but it’s probably not a very good one.
Someone drank the koolaid and cannot be saved.
That’s ok. I had a dog that killed badass feral cats on a regular basis. 2 seconds or less, and it was over. To quick to stop her once she started. What can I say, she was a natural hunter. Very sweet girl though.
+1.
It washcloths puppy was playing not fighting. I have a dog if you want a rematch.
Just try posting a video of *that* on the internet and watch what happens, though.
No idea why cats hurting dogs is just fine and dandy.
+1
The reaction of the dog is obvious PAIN.
Post #10 will make you blow a gasket.
You’re right. I would never let my pets behave like that. The dog could have been blinded, or gotten a terrible infection. People can be so callous.
My poor Djinni the Ibizan Hound got corneal ulcers from fiberglass exposure when she was about 2 years old.
Not only was it expensive to treat, it was horrible agony for her until we got them under control.
She spent the next 12 years vision impaired because of the scarring.
It tore me apart.
All it takes it a “little damage” to an eye...
Not surprisingly, controlling cattle was their original purpose.
Trust me, if theyre badass enough (like a tortie), it dont matter what age the dogs are.
I get your point but it looks like the cat got the nose just under the eye. Personally, I think the dogs reaction is more in the line of WTF? I was sleeping!
Cat woke him up and popped him. Thats just mean.
Watch it again.
Direct hit to the eye.
That version is small but the only one I could find.
The ones popping up on FB are larger.
I hate it like poison.
As I mentioned, one of my dogs had eye injury and her reactions were identical to that dog’s.
And I know she was in a lot of pain.
My Dobermanns just laughed at that.
Mashed potatoes are just guacamole for the Irish.
Sorry, had to get that off my chest.
