Utah Rep. Tim Quinn (R-Huber City) filed a bill this week to recall an elected US Senator. The bill was filed after months of Mitt Romney, aka Pierre Delecto, trashing and working against the Republican President.
Mitt has been among the staunchest voices against President Trump, since joining the US Senate in 2019.
President Trump had an excellent relationship with Mitt’s predecessor, Orrin Hatch. UT went for president Trump in 2016, in spite of local rightie ‘resistance’ from a few insignificant fools. Orrin Hatch assured president Trump that Mitt would be a good replacement. Then the president endorsed Mitt for the UT senate seat.
But Romney, due to envy and bitterness, and being a small ‘man’, after winning the senate seat in UT, betrayed the people of Utah, his friend Orrin Hatch and all the Trump voters, and the senate and his party too. Now even Utah is getting sick of his treachery.
On Friday Mitt Romney voted with Democrats to extend the sham impeachment trial of President Trump. What a douche!

Mitt Romney, what a pure excuse for a man. Here we have a man who was ridiculed by the MSM, when he ran against Obama for driving with his dog on the roof of his car, and maliciously accused of not paying his taxes by the democRATS. He never fought back, now he bends over backward to gain favor with the MSM and RATS in their efforts to take down one of the greatest presidents in history.
NOt that I would ever advocate for it but I sure would applaud is some 90 year old little Utah woman just kicked Mitts ass.
My worst vote was in 1996 when I was in the Liberaltarian (aka Libertarian) Party. Harry Browne was the candidate.
Each Senator got/gets 10 minutes of standing at the podium, on CSPIN2 or any other network that happens to tune in, to express why they are voting the way they always intended to vote anyway. During their next campaign, they will use bits and pieces of those speeches about their stand on impeachment, in their adds. Almost 17 hours of 1 Senator telling 99 Senators, something we already knew. Or 1,700 person hours if you're paying for it... Although attendance isn't mandatory, the Senate Chamber is in use by the extended Impeachment.
Admit it, Heber functions as a suburb of PC. The Heber airport is where the super rich land their private jets.
You should go to the Heber City Counsel and ask them if they feel that they are a suburb of PC.
Park City is a little town. Heber not so.

Like the Bagley cartoon a few years ago depicting two couples at a table. The one couple is explaining, “No, we’re from Salt Lake City; that’s NEAR Park City”.
The Utah legislature would have unanimously elected this sockcuker, you nitwit!!!!
I think some would not have. The sane ones would’ve said “no.”
Yeah the legislature might appoint a sleazebag but the proposed amendment gives the People of Utah an opportunity to recall him. The moral is you can’t know what you’re hiring until you see how they perform. And if they perform poorly, then you fire them.
So Utahans ‘hired’ this guy with their vote, but now they can’t get rid of him because there is no recall in the US Constitution.
So Romney stays in power and his money network makes sure his dem opponent won’t have a chance, so he will stay in power.
But if there was a provision for recall, then these stories of scuzzy politicians getting into office and staying in office would be a thing of the past.
Don’t recall Romney. Investigate, charge and convict him.

IF this prick runs for reelection in 2024 (long time), we must make sure he loses the primary (or ideally doesn’t even make the primary, like Bob Bennett, who would have been reelected by the legislature) simple as that. But he’ll be pushing 80 so he might not even run.
As for recall, I get the sentiment but do we want constant recall elections? They would be used against our good Senators too.
Governor recall provisions in some states have got us what? Arnold? Barf.
We have fixed terms in this country, he won a a 6 year term and we didn’t do enough to stop him and we have to live with that. There is no excuse, all the signs where there that he was a prick that should not be a Republican nominee for anything.

Like asking “do we want constant law enforcement?”, or “do we want constant garden maintenance?” etc, etc.
After a time, lawbreakers are brought to heel, they are minimized, there will only be a few.
Like storeowners minimizing shoplifters, they recognize there will always be shoplifting but it needs to be less than 1%, not greater than 10%.
Like weeds in a garden, if not tended to, the weeds will take over.
Yeah, so there’s going to be a responsibility to get recall going if a state appointed US Senator is found to be a con artist.
But here’s the thing, when a state legislator appoints a US Senator, they have to explain locally to their neighbors why they voted that way, they can’t run away, they got neighbors watching them.
But as it is now, state legislators say “don’t blame me” I had nothing to do with it and the people become apathetic and frustrated.
But if a local state legislator has a responsibility and they choose a two-faced scammer, the people are going to get in their face because it’s a local thing, there’s more accountability.
So now voters are largely apathetic and if they even bother to vote they vote for the one with the “better appearance”, the one with the slicker campaign ads and that takes money.
So usually it’s the money. Voters vote for the slickster, the better liar and those liars live a thousand miles away, they might keep a PO BOX locally but their real address is the Swamp.
So popular elections take away the “local” aspect and replace it with a remote Swamp power center that has enough money backing to fool enough people most of the time. And voters will shrug their shoulders thinking next time they’ll just stay home and the Swamp is just fine with that.
The 17th amendment cut the accountability of local state legislators to their local neighbors, it disconnected the state from federal government and so a state’s voters have no one local to confront about it.
The 17th amendment should have been written as a popular vote to RECALL a US Senator or to force a state legislature to RECALL the same. Both ways to recall should exist at the same time allowing voters more power to wield.
The way the original Constitution was written was to have states check federal power by having its representatives in Congress, specifically the US Senate.
But now we have these two BIG US REPRESENTATIVES why? Why are they needed? Why do we need a US Senate?
It’s so easy for those with access to gobs of money to buy a US Senator.
It’s simple, you back both R and D candidates.
You tell voters here’s your choices stupid voter, choose the R or the D, it’s all the same to us because we own both of them.
But when it comes to buying local state legislators, it’s a harder nut to crack because now you’re up closer to the American people.
So yeah, there’s going to be recall elections, sometimes many, sometimes very few.
But for sure, if voters get involved and refuse to be snookered, then BOTH state legislators AND US Senators will know the voters have power.
So your question should be recast:
“Do US Senators want state legislators and voters to have the power to fire them at any time or just once every six years?”
I think if we have the power to fire them every day, then they will act responsibly every day, not just once every six years.
And over time there will be very few recall elections because both state legislators and voters will have the power to hold a US Senator accountable every single day, not just once every six years.
Going back to the shoplifting analogy, the crooks tell each other the storeowner sleeps all the time and only wakes up every six years so hallelujah! Let’s go get us some loot!
Whereas if the storeowner is always watching the crooks are going to move on to an easier target.
The result is fewer incidents because there’s more pushback power.
