Snyder is a perpetual doomer to the point of absurdity.

I've been getting the annual flu vaccine, consistently, since 2010. Haven't had the flu since 2006.

Hmmm, it must be me. There can be no other reason...

I am so tired of these anti-vaxxing conspiracy cranks. Right up with chem trails, Alt-Right, White Privilege goofs.

Years ago, well before I quit smoking, a nurse listened to my lungs and was annoyed that she couldn't hear the "smoker's crackle" of a long time user. Worse, I had 98% blood oxygen. As far as she was concerned, I should have been dead, or at least sick.

(I got tired of being treated as a 2nd class citizen, by Socialist Health Nazis. Remember when they were testing how far they could guilt individual behavior?)

And those are just the ones we know about
Probably a large reservoir of mild cases
and unreported more serious disease

There are already more cases in China than there were SARS cases in China.
It’s already reached more countries (18) than SARS reached (17).
By tomorrow or Saturday at the latest, confirmed cases will exceed SARS.

Hypothesis: The number of deaths is equal to 10% of the confirmed cases 5 days ago. I predict the death count will be 250 tomorrow and 370 on Saturday. It will surpase SARS in number of deaths on Feb 6th.

About 8% of Bubonic plague victims recovered, with no treatment. We'll have to see if the fatalities, even with modern medicine, are equivalent. Currently, the numbers do not look good. So far about 54% die vs recover.

And that's with suspect numbers.

Show of hands on who trusts the Chinese government?

That recovery stat is really worrisome.

Sounds like if we get this, it’s at least a 3 week stay in the hospital.

We’re going to need bigger hospitals if this breaks free in the US.

Fine, you can attack the source.

But it’s hard to attack ordinary people who returned from visits to China and who have travelled there in the past, who are saying consistently they’ve never seen anything like this. Streets deserted, shops and eating places closed. Very few people and those who they saw are scared. Totally different than SARS and previous incidents.

Or you can believe the data the Chicoms put out. That’s what they want good little Americans to do. Believe them and disregard people like Snyder.

IMHO china has decided since this will destroy their economy, they’re going to share it so everyone else’s economy is destroyed too.

I know. Dad was in for 35 days in 2010 and it was $485,000. Medicare knocked about 75% off, and then paid most of what was left.

I hope everyone has good insurance. And I hope none of us need it.

Medical sources said there were 50,000 infected in China; the numbers the mainland government give out are a joke.

Medical sources inside China have claimed there are 100,000 infected. And that numerous dead are not listed as dying from the coronavirus, so that they don’t get counted in the statistics.

Bottom line: we have no idea how many are infected or how many have died. All we can know is that the mainland government is taking extreme measures to contain an outbreak, about which it won’t share information.

“Medical sources said there were 50,000 infected in China”

That’s “medical sources in Hong Kong”, who ought to have good information sources.

And “medical sources inside China” are unofficial statements, by medical personnel on the scene, but not “official” statements.

There are better sources than Infowars that actually support those numbers. No need to roll in the mud.

Researchers at Northeastern University and Imperial College London estimate that the number of cases may be five or ten times higher than what has been reported. Thousands of suspected cases are yet to be confirmed with tests, and others with the virus may not have sought medical attention.

On Monday, the Northeastern researchers estimated there may be around 25,000 cases. The estimates will change as more cases are reported and more information about the virus becomes known.

“...the World Health Organization said most cases reported to date “have been milder, with around 20% of those infected experiencing severe illness.” https://hosted.ap.org/article/a980aeb44b3840341c674a6e67c19da6/deaths-rise-132-china-outbreak-foreigners-leave

this 20% is in China. Not the case around the world where almost all cases have been ‘milder’. No deaths outside of China proper. (except Shanghai)
Jan 21 - first case in USA - still alive
Jan 25 - first cases in France - still alive; also Australia
Jan 26/27 - first cases in Canada - still alive
Jan 27 - Cambodia/Sri Lanka - still alive
Jan 27 - 5th case in Australia - still alive
Jan 28 - all still alive except China: Australia, Cambodia, Canada, China, France, Japan, Malaysia, Nepal, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, the US, Vietnam and Germany.

Why are people dying in China and not outside of China? Maybe the Chinese delayed medical treatment in favor of herbal medicine? Maybe the Chinese treated for flu when they should have treated for pneumonia? What, besides Tamiflu, have the Chinese been using to treat? If China is expecting tens of thousands of cases, why did they build a pop-up hospital that only holds 1500 patients?

But at least from early cases, 15% of patients need advanced medical care.

Many caveats might apply; but not all that might, necessarily do.

That’s almost $40k/day.
Must pay for a lot of illegal aliens’ usage of the ER as a primary care facility...
