The Young and the Restless for Tuesday, January 21 was preempted due to impeachment proceedings in the United States Senate.
The soap opera took to Facebook to make the official announcement even though viewers throughout the four U.S. timezones previously reported either seeing impeachment breaking news or a rerun about Kristoff St. John and his character Neils death from last spring.

I guess we just know different dudes.
Really? The Victor Newman character is still devious and cheating on his wife?
So is this male FReeper. They’re bumping all my soaps, and I’m pissed.
Yes, GH is still running. The last surviving soap on ABC.
Still devious, but not cheating on Nikki.
I’m not embarrassed I watch the soaps. I’m just embarrassed I share this habit with Puffy. :-P
I used to tape my favorites and watch at night. One Life to Live and The Guiding Light. Asa on One Life To Live was my favorite character.
ABC canned both “One Life to Live” and “All My Children” earlier in the decade for some crap (one was a cooking talk show called “The Chew”, which has since been cancelled). There was enough of an outcry that an independent production group took over and filmed new shows to run online, but then the plug got pulled after they aired a number of them. Since GH is set in the same universe as AMC and OLTL, on occasion you’ll have a character from one or the other show up. They’ve had Nora Buchanan from OLTL popping up from time to time working as a defense attorney for shady characters.
I never watched “The Guiding Light”, couldn’t get into it. It’s curious it started off on the radio in the 1930s as a religious soap opera.
Yes. Victor is very devious. Still devious.
That blows my mind! I recall rushing in to watch “Dark Shadows” and catching the last few minutes of GH. 1967. Damn! I wonder how much ABC has billed for that show over its run?
I used to be hooked on Y&R back in the 80’s......................
Don’t know. It’s in its 57th season this year. It still has a link to its original star, John Beradino (Dr. Steve Hardy) who played the role until his death in 1996 (for 33 years). His character’s granddaughter is a major character and they have Hardy’s protégés still on.
