I would see that as reasonable.
During the Obama years, not after but during, I speculated that the steady stream of scandals was in some part orchestrated by the Administration and that they were managing scandal with scandal.
Let me explain: unlike proverbial frogs who will jump out of frying pans actual people have the ability to make excuses, even decide the higher temperatures are preferable, and so can be proverbially fried where dumb animals cannot be.
I believe that by the time Obama entered office that the malevolent powers behind him had figured out that Leftist responded to scandals about Leftists by circling the wagons as a knee jerk response, essentially Pavlovian. All that mattered is that no single scandal was so bad (relatively speaking) that it might disabuse them all at once.
So a steady stream of scandals, each only a bit worse than the last, conditioned Leftist to be able to get over stuff, and better get over stuff just a bit worse than theyd already gotten over. In the meantime they could be whipped into a frenzy over any charge laid against the not-we.
Eventually such thick callouses have been laid over their minds that nothing can disabuse many of them.
Clinton pioneered the strategy; what Rush Limbaugh (IIRC) called “dense pack” after the theory behind ICBM missile silos:
make them so close together hat you can’t attack them all at once, for fear of your attacks on one interfering with the attacks on the others.
Interesting and plausible!
