See if they allow a defensive driving course to wipe the ticket from your record.

I’m not worried about that since I haven’t had a ticket in ten years. The last time I went to driving school was when I lived in CA and did 65 in a 55. I explained how the interstates were designed for 70mph and the class was stupid. The instructor told me that if I didn’t sing the party line, I wouldn’t graduate. Early ‘90’s. Yes, your, highness. Nothing but a money grab.

In Texas you can plead to deferred adjudication. It’s basically the same price as a speeding ticket but it does not go on your record. Furthermore you do not have to spend all day in a defensive driving class.

The last thing you want right now is a lecture, but ask yourself:

Is speeding, putting your life and the lives of other drivers/passengers on the road in more danger, plus the cost of the fine plus insurance increases plus the embarrassment and feeling lousy about it, really worth getting somewhere a couple minutes sooner?

The result isn’t worth risk.
