21 is the legal drinking age among other laws...
35 is the new 21.
And it keeps AOCortez out of this Democrat presidential contender primary.
For the purposes of medical coverage and gun crime stats, 25 is still a teenager.
My wife and I have been discussing when the decade ends. Fortunately, this conversation only occurs every ten years.
Say what you wish BUT I have been on this planet for (parts of) TEN decades (though ‘cheating a little’)
b 1939
so
30s
40s
50s
60s
70s
80s
90s
00s
10s
20s
now 2020
If I manage to make it to 15, then we will have something to ‘talk’ about....<: <: <:
and they’re still living with their parents...
Oh, and since I started programming in "C" back around 1987 or so, I'm used to array indices starting at 0. So for me, a decade naturally is indexed 0-9 or 2020 through 2029.
birth to age 10=1st decade
11-20=2nd decade
21-30=3rd decade
31-40=4th decade
41-50=5th decade
51-60=6th decade
61-70=7th decade
71-80=8th decade
81-90=9th decade
91-100=pushing it...
In sports and entertainment it is not uncommon to hear that someone has performed across 8 decades incorporating the later part of the decade they began in and the current (at the time) decade. Actual time (even less with a break or absence) is at least 11 years less than the boast.
Yes, like in the Military...
If one goes in the Navy in Jan 59 and aboard ship in Dec 59 and leaves in Jan 61, he has been aboard 3 years, so logic carries that he goes to the 2nd ship in Jan 61 and leaves Jan 63 and gets out, he has been on that ship for 3 years.
Hence, since served 3 yrs on 1 ship and 3 on another he has ‘served’ aboard ship 6 years in a 4 year enlistment...HA HA
‘Figures don’t lie but liars figure’
The new decade starts in 2021 just like the new millennium started in 2001. “Why?”, you ask. That’s because there was no “year zero”. The count started with 1. (1 to 10. Not 0 to 9)
The Left always wants to change, change, change to show how important they are. So, which decade gets short changed a year? See the problem?! Here, again, we have the Left promising “the moon” and delivering less. In this case, a year less. (Maybe they found a way to tax daylight savings)
Yep, I see what you are saying.
I’ve heard that the early ‘60s were more like the late ‘50s than the late ‘60s. When people talk of “the 60s” and social upheavals and all that in the ‘60s, they don’t mean 1960 and 1961, they are thinking of 1967 and 1968 and 1969.
