If you look at the circled area, these are EXTERNAL damage. This is indicative of anti-aircraft missiles. The missiles explode just before they impact the plane. Shrapnel results from the explosion, which impacts the plane.
This looks similar to the hull of the plane downed in the Ukraine/Russia conflict (Malaysian Air Flight 17).
Possibliities:
1. It truly was just an accident with very suspicious timing.
2. One overly nervous Iranian anti-aircraft commander got nervous and shot by mistake.
3. The strategic move is to take out citizens of a U.S. ally (many Canadians on board). Deny doing it. Dare the U.S. to respond knowing the U.S. media will say Trump has no absolute proof and is driving us into war. It also was a Ukraianian airline and if Trump responds he'd be siding with Ukraine over Iran/Russia.
Any experts on possible missle damage to aircraft?

Looks like they are holding the Black Box they recovered - that speaks volumes if it isn’t turned over, intact, forthwith...
Yes, good point.
Received this in private mail and seems like a 4th valid possibility:
4) Strategic move by Iran leader to A. kill supporters of Solomani (the late, not lamented) who were fleeing Iran. and B. Collect the gold bullion which these were taking with them (by a controlled excavation of the crash site).
Just my thought. Since Solomani and his Quds fellows could have knocked off the leader at any time. Trump did the leader a favor and expects him to chill with the terror after this kabuki theater of the rocket attack.
Is the Pope Catholic?
Never mind, bad analogy with THIS Pope...
Iran plane crash most likely a shootdown event, aviation experts say
From elsewhere:
It was flying within range of 2 main SAM sites exactly the time they were drilling and preparing for retaliatory bombing by US aircraft. Even if the engine exploded (not probable), the fragments wouldn’t travel more than 1800 feet per second. It wouldn’t likely make those types of perforations that appear to be made by fragments that were traveling at a much higher velocity, like shaped-charged fragments from a SAM that go 2400-3200fps and are white-hot, which normally ignites the fuel it comes in contact with in the wing.
The timing and location of the crash would be an almost unbelievable coincidence if this were a mechanical or pilot error. Passenger airplane crashes are very rare - usually zero to two a year out of probably millions of flights a year worldwide.
Passenger list released online for anyone that wants to do deep digging:

Some suggesting perhaps it was an Iranaian national that was the target.

Post from January 7, but respected Jordanian news service said Iranian forces shot the plane down by mistake.
167 passengers were killed:
63 Canadians
3 British Nationals
11 Ukrainians (9 of which were pilots & crew)
82 Iranians
4 Afghanistan
3 German
10 Swedes
BBC says plane passed its technical inspection just 3 days ago
Bull of the highest order.
It was not my idea. It came from a Ukraine unofficial intelligence network/org. It was THEIR speculation. It was published before the Iranian airliner crashed.
From the list of the passengers the vast majority are Iranians regardless their passports. There is one person with Ukrainian name and one with Swedish. There are several people under Swedish names actually but it is clear that they are an Iranian wife and little children of that one Swedish person.
Iranians killing Iranians to punish Ukraine doesn’t compute.
I agree. Like I said, the speculation that Ukraine would be a collateral-damage response target came from independent Ukraine sources, not me. Don’t shoot the messenger.
I don’t shoot you. I guess we are questioning the source right now.
Thanks - that also makes sense - I believe Little Kim may have a similar problem with some of his generals in the threat area.
