A father and daughter are convicted at Trial for Involvement in $100 Million Fraudulent Tax Refund Scheme.
Kenneth Edmonson and his daughter Danielle claimed that the government owed them $175 million in tax refunds. They were paid out $3.4 million in refunds through the issuance of U.S. Treasury checks before the IRS realized that they had in fact, never bought a winning ticket.
In 2015, Danielle Takeila Edmonson managed to get the IRS to pay out $239K in tax refunds for winning an unspecified amount of money from the lottery. With that she bought a BMW and took $60 000 in cash. The IRS never received any corresponding forms to support the payment of any of these taxes.
35 -year-old Daniellie Edmonson is said to have a masters in business and filed another bogus tax return in 2016 asking for $80 million in refunds on an alleged income of $141 million.
They replied to her: Your demand has no legal validity and is not payable through any federal agency. Your scheme appears to be akin to a fraud.
In September 2017, K. Edmonson filed a fraudulent tax return seeking a refund of approximately $725,111. Department of Treasury mailed a tax refund check to K. Edmonson for $734,266.27 (including interest). Shortly thereafter, K. Edmonson deposited this tax refund check into his bank account.
Kenneths house was raided in January 2018. During the search, in the bedrooms of D. Edmonson and K. Edmonson, law enforcement found letters addressed to both individuals warning them of the frivolous nature of their returns. Shortly after law enforcement left, despite warnings not to do so, K. Edmonson went to his bank to attempt to withdraw the funds from the account that received the fraudulent refund check.
In March 2019, Danielle was arrested.

That the IRS does not have the ability to check these simple things points out how bad it is.
It is easy to create a database, maintaining it as useful is impossible...........................
Them there folks had a YUGE set to do that.
"Yes, I can create a database to track and manage what you think you need to operate. Are you prepared to put in place the significant amount of resources to populate it and keep it updated?”
Shortly after law enforcement left, despite warnings not to do so, K. Edmonson went to his bank to attempt to withdraw the funds from the account that received the fraudulent refund check.
“Don’t go to the bank to withdraw the money”
What the criminal heard:
“Go to the bank and withdraw the money.”
They now qualify for free room and board and free legal representation. What a country.
I wish I had thought of that. it’s pretty original, at very least.
Despite the Idaho byline, these are Floridians from Ft Lauderdale, who grifted $3.4 million from the brainless IRS in multiple filing scams that would have fooled a small child. Tekeila claims they are “aboriginal American Moorish sovereign citizens.” (odd that sovereign citizens have such thirst for the Beast’s fiat money...). That, the name Tekeila, and the lack of pics on the internet indicate African Americans, but maybe they be lyin’ about that too.
Anybody who has any sense at all making decisions at IRS would establish a cut-off limit for refunds that have no backing. Say $1500. Above that, you’ll wait until we run a few programs and check if what you’re saying is true.
But we’re not competent at IRS. We are ignorant jerks who got the job through political patronage and we don’t care.
They should both move into Hunter Biden’s mansion until this thing blows over.
No, not wrong at all!
Manchurian Candidate Barack Hussein Obama got to be pResident using forged documents, such as his Selective Service registration card. Sure, the century accidentally fell off. AND Barack signed it AFTER it was postmarked. Seems legit.

Hey now! the IRS is very busy going over Pres. Trump’s return with a fine-toothed comb. They don’t have time for detecting audit anomalies like someone requesting a $700K refund.
Please pardon my ignorance. They claimed to have overpaid taxes on non existent lottery winnings, and asked the IRS to refund to them 3.4 million dollars. The IRS had agents who knew the return was fraudulent and paid the refunds anyway. What am I missing?
That’s alright. I always just pickup the free item if there’s a “buy one, get one free” sale. I usually don’t need both of them.
I don’t understand how they do this. When I file my taxes, if the IRS thinks I missed something, they’ll recalculate it for you and issue the refund according to their calculations, NOT your form. I had some deduction a long time ago that saved me maybe $3-400. But the IRS redid my paperwork for me, and didn’t add it, so they sent a much smaller refund than they should have. Pain in the ass getting that resolved.
There’s no way they missed the fact that these guys never paid estimated taxes during the year. And, you would expect that every return that includes a large refund would at least get a cursory check before being sent out.
