The December 6, 2019, Naval Air Station Pensacola attack reminded us once more that gun-free policies on military installations make U.S. troops sitting ducks.
Breitbart News reported that a gunman opened fire Friday morning in Pensacola, killing three innocents and causing numerous others to be transported to the hospital for injuries.
The Associated Press reported that the Pensacola gunman was an aviation student from Saudi Arabia, and NBC News reported that the gunmans name was Mohammed Saeed Alshamrani.
He used a handgun to carry out his attack.
Pertinent to news of this horrific firearm-based attack is the fact that Naval Air Station Pensacola is a gun-free zone.
Breitbart News reported the air stations gun-free status shortly after the attack. The stations firearm policy, as described by Commander, Navy Region Mid-Atlantic, notes:
While federal and state laws differ widely on the subject, regulations pertaining to the registration, transportation, and storage of firearms on Naval Installations in the Mid-Atlantic area of responsibility are clear. According to the instruction, all hands share responsibility for adhering to regulations pertaining to the registration, transportation, and storage of firearms in the AOR.

Amen
gun-free military bases?
are they KIDDING?!
that’s insane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
let’s also have doctor-free hospitals and
food-free groceries!
Gun free zones put every law abiding citizen at risk.
Didn’t we question military bases gun free zones way back during the Ft. Hood massacre?
Well, then. Trump had better get on the stick.
Islam is incompatible with every known civil society in history, it is a disease that needs to be eradicated from the planet./
She said it was “legally acquired”... but from *whom*?
How is it Legal than anyone who is NOT a U.S. Citizen can buy a Firearm?
Illegal Invader, no Vote and no Gun, since they shouldn’t be here anyway.
Green Card, no Vote and no Gun, just like being a Felon.
Indeed we did here on FR. 5 years and nothing has changed. It would be nice to know what reason was first given for this policy. Near as I can think maybe they felt military bases are too tense to have everyone armed but the more one thinks about that it makes no sense.
Bar foreigners from having weapons in the United States...
Truth!
Doubtless we'll know soon.
Installations and bases have been gun free with few exception since at least the early 80s, more restrictive since the Jihadi Major killed us at Hood, the latest DOD reg makes it a virtual self-defense free zone.
But, Saudi Nationals apparently are able to walk around classrooms with firearms.
They are not even here on a visa, yet they acquire firearms (for other than military training purposes, unless killing fellow student is after all, a military operation.).
I am a retired FG officer, able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance, a combat veteran, well trained in the application of lethal force by the US govt, professional firearms trainer and marksman in several pertinent disciplines, a physical security manager and a bona fide US NBC, yet, I cannot enter a DOD or COE property with my sidearm, unless it is registered with the PM and I am going directly to and from a sporting or hunting event....
President Trump, do something!
Trump declared that installation commanders can authorize uniformed active duty personnel to carry concealed arms. Big deal. I bet there are about six senior NCOs and staff 06s in the Hqs so authorized by the GO. Everyone else, forget it, and yet they are where the rubber meets the road, or more correctly, where metal meets flesh.
I avoid using any govt installations or facilities as I must leave my usual arms at home, cannot come aboard a base w/o declaring an arm, and can only access a base with an arm for a specific dedicated reason, like going to a range ( yeah, right. maybe Camp Perry, Robinson or Atterbury where shooting sports are entertained) or hunting, but must go to and from, no where else. Did I mention registered with the PMO?
Yeah, cause you definitely can’t trust service members with guns. [eyeroll]
He is, covering for the Saudis.
But, if guns are banned on bases, how could this jihadist have used a gun?!? /s
We need to ban Moslems in America!
