Yalta and Potsdam: Days That Still Live in Infamy
DB Daily Update ^ | David Blackmon

[Note: The following comment was submitted to a post on Saturday by Gregg W. Updike, a Navy veteran who served from 1983 to 1987. Gregg was on the USS America CV-66 when Ronald Reagan bombed Libya. This posting is a day late, given that Pearl Harbor Day was yesterday, but Gregg shared many thoughts that Americans should ponder these 78 years later.]

Don’t forget to “Remember Pearl Harbor” 78 years ago today; which resulted in our last formerly declared war a day later.

The results of that attack was paid back in less than four years with the total defeat of Japan and her Axis partners Germany and Italy.

Sadly, we left that war unfinished when we had the opportunity to be a true “arsenal of democracy” and defeat all totalitarian states for the foreseeable future at little additional cost (the Red Army was an exhausted force on the verge of collapse/revolt, and Mao’s China was a nonfactor). We won the war with our blood and treasure and gave away the peace with ink. Arguably more people ultimately lived under the tyranny of communism after the partial victory over dictatorships than before when our first communist president gave away the eastern half of Europe to the thug Stalin at Yalta in early 1945 with Truman basically sealing the deal at Potsdam later that year.

Hindsight is 20-20, and America in 1945 was “war-weary”, but Patton and Churchill, among others, saw the true evil that was on the horizon. Churchill was defeated and Patton was “accidented” as [a precursor to being Arkancided] to clear the way for the “New World Order”.

Since the Cold War started in 1945, 90% of the world’s problems of violence and unrest can be traced directly to Moscow! Examples are:

Active support of Mao in China after the Japanese defeat and withdrawal – USSR provided Mao with the captured Japanese Army’s weapons to use against Chang guaranteeing a communist China by 1950. This lead directly to the 1950-1953 and beyond, Korean War. Both Mao’s China and Stalin’s USSR supported the first, and succeeding, Kims in North Korea. USSR fomented world-wide third world violence and chaos by arming millions of insurgents with the famous AK-47 and other weaponry. Several other USSR supported happenings during the Cold War and beyond:

Europe’s Iron Curtain, Cuba, numerous Latin and South America coups, insurrections, overthrows…, virtually the whole region is an economic disaster with not one strong or vibrant democracy! USSR/Russian support to Israel’s Arab enemies, basically since 1947 and Afghanistan, just to name a select few overt actions. And the covert infiltration of America’s education system (once the envy of the world – now ranked 17th), media, commercial/business (Chamber of Commerce), entertainment, political, and other institutions, and support of virtually every radical group active in the bringing down of our republic today with its money laundered through Soros front organizations with the silent support of several US presidents and the collective Deep State. Over 100,000 American military and civilian deaths fighting USSR backed communist aggression since WWII, and the USSR was our “ally” and was saved from total defeat to Germany. These are some thoughts to ponder when we think about the far ranging effects of that “Day of Infamy” 78 years ago.

PS: The USSR/Russia has the economic might equivalent to California, or Italy, and about half our population, so one must ask, how can they be such a threat to the US and to world peace and prosperity, without the help of globalist organizations like the UN, EU, and our Deep State?

We need to dust off to 60’s concept of ‘Fortress America’ and put it into effect.

We only need to deal with the five English-speaking democracies other than on our own terms.

IMHO, the terms Deep State, Globalist, Environmentalist, ANTIFA, et al,
all fall under the label of MARXIST.

And, it doesn't matter if it is NATIONAL - DEMOCRATIC Socialism or International Socialism. All represent, to me, ONE world Government (or GHW Bush's “New World Order”),
and loss of America's independence, sovereignty, heritage and history.

(And probably 90% of hard core Democrats, as well. I really don't like people who identify more by their party affiliation than by wanting to follow the Constitution.)

... Environmentalist, ANTIFA, et al,
All distracted masses, cattle being distracted by the manipulating Masters
The people “cared for” by The Masters are treated like livestock
As long as we moo the right way, accept our brands
Don’t disturb the Masters, and go quietly to the slaughter

“the Red Army was exhausted and on the verge of collapse”

That’s ridiculous. We’re talking four months before the A bomb, Okinawa has just started and the US was going to drive 1200 miles along a 800 mile front to Moscow? Most of we Freepers wouldn’t be here as our dads and grandfathers would be buried somewhere in Europe had we fought the USSR. Regardless of how we were rolled by Stalin, things turned out well for us in the cold war.

There’s no shame in the concept for Fortress America when the rest of humanity seems to reject the very underpinings of classic liberal civilization. Part of the problem will be to get the frostbacks onboard, as they seem to have pockets of uber-liberal society on the border who revel in Pajama Boy Trudeau prancing in rainbow socks. The other side to the coin seems to be that Quebec is jonesing for a Canexit and might play ball, after all the schoolyard fighting. Upshot is, Canada has some things going for it, but the only trade agreement I want to see is if they export maple syrup but keep that nasty Canadian brew up there in the tundra. That Carling, Moosebreath, Labatt’s, and Molson tastes like they squeeze off a herd of elk into their vats. And we’ll take Loverboy (as fat as Mike Reno is; he’s the Vince Neil of Pop Rock at his age) if they’ll repatriate Jim Carrey and his thousand neuroses and house him in some igloo in Nunavut!

The body politic always needs an adversary, a boogeyman so to speak. Human nature is one of conflict. The chase becomes more important than the goal.

> gave away the eastern half of Europe to the thug Stalin at Yalta <

About the only thing that makes sense there was calling Stalin a thug. The Red Army was already occupying Eastern Europe. So saying that we gave Eastern Europe away is as silly as saying Stalin gave away France.

In fact it was Churchill’s idea to offer Eastern and Central Europe to Stalin for grab at Tehran. The idea was to insure the Soviet forces will continue fighting after defeating Axis in USSR proper.
To fight a war for East Europe with the Soviets was beyond insane in 1945. Not only it was impossible to produce a rationale to sell it to the general population in the West it was simply impossible to pull it militarily.

Yes, I read something about that. If I recall correctly, Churchill had some weird percentage plan, where the Soviets would get X amount of influence in one country and Britain would get Y amount of influence in other.

The whole thing was nonsense, and must have given Stalin a good laugh. Because the Soviet tanks in Eastern Europe were staying put, percentages or not.

Just a tiny point of correction. The last “declared” war was about six months later when Congress declared war on, I think, Romania.

I know they were not a huge part of the Axis....but it was the last time Congress officially declared.

The notion that FDR or Truman and Congress could have sold an invasion of the USSR to the American people is ridiculous.

Although it is possible if the Soviets stayed withing their borders and left the rest of work to UK. And the latter was not in the same league as Germany. US involvement in Europe in this case was questionable as well.
