Yes, remember it was under Bill Clinton that Soc Sec started being taxed

No, it was in 1983 (under Reagan) that Social Security was first taxed. It was changed in 1993 to generate more income.

“Here’s a thought. Only award SS benefits to people who contributed to it and their survivors.”

Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner!! The number of people collecting SSDI and SSI (AND Medicare/Medicaid) who NEVER paid a dollar into any of the systems is staggering! But they are always the first programs that politicians threaten to cut, rather than going after all of the various welfare systems, especially those that benefit people who are not citizens, or are not even in the country legally. (And yes, I know that people who are not here legally are not eligible for welfare but we all know that they get it anyway in one form or another!

And what about the Billions Congress (with previous Presidents’ kudos) stole from the SS Trust Fund to buy votes (and worse...)

Social security can not be saved from bankruptcy.
The ratio of people paying taxes in 1940 to people collecting social security was 159:1. In 2013 it was 2.8:1.
Second, senior citizens who paid the social security taxes all their working lives will not go for this one bit.

I want to reduce salaries..to ALL Senators, Congressmen. And all Governors, and state workers. How about them apples?

And that would solve a lot of problems.

Politicians, cops and fire personnel making 125k +++??

It's bull sh*t and it's been choking off the tax payers for years.

The average life expectancy when Social Security began was about 67 years old.

Leave it to a Rat like Buttplug to punish those of us who have paid the maximum into the system, and STILL managed to save, pay top bracket income taxes, and build wealth. He wants to punish us for our success.

SPIT!!!

This is the way it always begins. First, target only those making $250,000 a year so it sounds "reasonable" to those making well under that. That gets the government's foot in the door. Suddenly the threshold becomes $200,000 a year, then $100,000 a year and before you know it, everybody above poverty level is now paying the additional tax.

That's exactly what would happen.

Not many seniors earn over $250k/yr.

You are giving them the expected response. Once they get this and the amount is set at 250K, they'll start lowering it. SS is the third rail of finance. Anybody who screws around with it is in trouble. I get SS.

These mutts work for us...or are suppose to.

I'm in a very conservative state...OK.

And these mutton heads do NOTHING..and say NOTHING...in support of TRUMP....

I've called them many times...and they don't care.

I've told them many times....I'm a professional..and I know many others like me that will not send you any $$ again...and they don't seem to care.

Term limits for every Senator and Congress person...!!!...That's my thinking!!!

If he says $250k, he means $50k. He’s just getting people to adjust raising taxes by making people think it isn’t them.

OK, thanks.
Maybe here he’s talking about FICA withholding, increasing the limit so more of your paycheck is taxed?

I think he is talking about raising the limit on withholding from those paying into the system, not retirees.
