Actually I ran with the lower levels crews of the Gambinos in my late teens and 20s.
I ran vending machines out of NJ and scraped the Product numbers off and sold them at half price, but first i took the dollar converter out because that was worth 500 and i could get 200 for it.
I worked with bookmakers for about a year and a half before getting pinched and doing a few nights in jail but i had a good record so just got probation.
I had a vending machine route in three boroughs and had to keep other mobsters from taking my spots, especially the good ones, by force if necessary and that included taking a vending machine that belonged to someone else outside and smashing it to bits with a baseball bat.
The guy who owned it showed up at my house with a gun.
That required one of three sit downs between our higher ups to decide our fates and maybe save my life.
Those are the lower key thing that happened.

Some of the most memorable moments of my life were when I was involved in a lot of mischief and got chased by the cops. Nothing anywhere close to what you’ve been through. Looking back, I see those times as great fun, not because what I did was bad (it was) but because of the thrills that came with it.
Best thing that ever happened to me was meeting my first wife. She was a real treasure and I lost interest in mischief after I started going with her.

But by my mid 20s I MET A GAL :), and though we didn’t stay together I moved on to school and then to work in a Manhattan office.
Taking other people’s things is AWFUL and I DO wish I could go back in time but i can’t.

Route 35 in NJ back then...I would blast Motley Crue on in a boom box on top of my car while I drilled open a vending machine (you could get the dollar bill converter which was worth 200 hot and the cash in it) in the open and I guess it was so obvious that the police didn’t stop.
One time the drill died so I went to my sisters’ house in middletown and used her outside socket to recharge it and just sat on her steps there hanging around.

Forget the whole thing. I should have stayed with my gut - what I said was wrong and I knew it didn’t sound right. Would have made it 2001 when the individual was 8 - born in 1993 and 26 now...so of course, Bill had made all his high and mighty friends by then to be invited on a yacht somewhere in New England...if it was pinned down closer, I’m sure someone would guess whose yacht it was.

The greatest threat are the schools ( pre-K through graduate school) that produce them.
But...Yes,...I agree they are the most serious, immediate, and urgent threat in this moment.
The Schools would not be able to get away with teaching their garbage if the news media accurately covered the news. Socialism would be discredited by the footage coming out of Venezuela and elsewhere, and the public would rightly understand that socialism is a disaster.
The Schools only teach nonsense because there is no television system showing the truth. Same thing with the other aspects of the nonsense schools are teaching nowadays.
