If Californians want reliable power, they have 2 CHOICES - they can bury their power lines underground, and probably see their bills double, or they can allow clearing of brush, so that these intentional blackouts are not needed.

So far they’ve chosen neither of those options.

PG&E decided it's cheaper to turn off the power than to maintain the trees near power lines.

Another angle; When power to a large are is cut, it also makes it harder for emergency crews. Cell towers need juice too.

Clean up underbrush and the state wouldn’t be a tinder box, exposing PG&E to ridiculous liability due to insane state policies. I’m with PG&E on this one. CA made this bed, it’s time for it’s residents to sleep in it.

Mexifornia is a colony of a third world country.

Goes with the territory.

I don’t blame PG&E. They’re not allowed to clear cut the areas that are problematic due to environmentalists and the state legislators. Then a fire, natural disaster, happens and they’re sued and lose. If I was them I’d do the same thing.
Oh yeah, and I hate PG&E but I gotta side with them on this.

I guess people like my wife who are on medical equipment at home will just have to “die quickly”.

California has neglected all of its basic infrastructure needs for more than 3 decades... water, power, etc... You forgot the rolling blackouts of 2001?

It is completely mismanaged, corrupt, and yes, damned near a 3rd world country in some aspects.

The legislature is more worried about forcing homosexuality on grade schoolers, and telling pig farmers in MN they can’t raise their pigs indoors.. than they are taking care of the state...

Priorities... priorities

My kids and grandkids were informed their power will be turned off at Noon, and last up to 5 days.

They do not live in Venezuela, they live in Moraga, CA.

Timber your trees or watch them burn. This is the result of the Environmental insanity.

When the Paradise fire sparked, the State did not even try to stop the fire because the ban on harvesting has also stopped removing fuel from the forest floor.

Crooked company with the corruptestregulation” in America resulting in the highest utility rates ( huge ripoff!) and a sold out state government. Needs serious complete replacement of both the corrupt greedy “regulators” and the corporation that controls them like little puppets on strings. Flash a few dollars in front of puppet “regulators” and get a thousand times return on your bribe in higher and higher and higher utility rates. And the so-called safety regulation is the worst part of this entire seedy corrupt crooked mess. Nothings going to be fixed until the crooks are in prison.

ACTIONS have CONSEQUENCES. PG&E is taking reasonable precautions in light of past (and continuing) events and situations. That’s IMHO of course.
