I was looking at my credit card statement Saturday night, when I saw an entry for "CARD SECURITY 1 800 815 4051", for nearly as much as the Interest Charge.
Turns out, that some banks are hiding a sign-up for their hideously overpriced "Card Security" services.
I never signed up, and yet they had dinged me for a substantial sum over the last 5 years. And, of course, they're only open 9AM to 9PM, weekdays.
I did a little investigating, and found that the Federal Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Fauxchahontas' brainchild, had investigated them, and every single time, a full refund was given to the consumer.
I called to cancel, and get a refund, and they were willing to cancel it, but unwilling to refund ***UNTIL*** I mentioned the CPFB. And then they offered a full refund of all charges since started, "as a courtesy". . . .
Appreciate the advice.
Thanks for posting—new one to me.
Thanks, I checked and it’s not on mine but glad to know about this.
What bank does the card go through?

Wells Fargo is notorious for this kind of thing. Sign you up for things without your permission. Then start charging you for it. So before Salgak answers, Im putting five bucks on Wells Fargo.
I am better it was a card offer through some vanity organization.
I used to manage call centers for a top 20 bank. I knew what Wells Fargo was doing about 10 seconds after I read it for the first time. MOST banks have procedures in place to avoid that crapand nip it in the bud.
This sounds like an overseas (China/India) operation.

Check Your Cards!
.
I’m talking to you!
I check every charge that shows up on my credit cards.
I’ll typically go through the online statements every other month or so and check 2 months at a time.
Over the years I’ve seen a “travel package” that I would never sign up for, a “card insurance” plan and a “roadside assistance” plan. These were all in the $30 range.
The best was a card that I hadn’t used in over a year suddenly showing $3,000 at various restaurants on the other end of the country. The only time my wallet was out of my possession was after an accident when it was taken by the EMT’s and held by the police. The charges showed up about a month later.
Synchrony. Never heard of them, outside of running merchant credit cards. . .
They are akin to the Old GE Credit Card you would get at an appliance store for cheap financing on your new fridge.
They are not a scam, but I am willing to bet the security might have a been a condition of the contract.
