All I knew then was Ford fouled up and said that the Soviets didn’t dominate Poland. That was enough for me to want Carter to win. But I was young, what did I know?

I think your political selections over 40 years ago don’t matter much now.
Although I don’t understand and I somewhat envy people whose political orientations have changed through the years, from left to right.
I was conservative at age 4, with my father always talking about it :)
I’ve never voted for a dem and never could. Even if he was someone like a mayor Koch, who from what I remember ( i was young) did a good job.
Not so good to reflexively vote any party.
Well at least it wasn’t at one time.
Now dems are so insane that it’s pretty easy.
And even then you read about some normal thinking ones down south.
