President Donald Trump is set to face a backlash from Hollywood as he descends on Los Angeles to raise money for his re-election campaign during the week of the Emmy Awards.
Mr Trump's opponents in the entertainment industry have demanded to know who is going to his fundraising event on Tuesday, and vowed "not to work with them again" on film and television projects.
The US president escalated the row by calling attention to a massive rise in the number of homeless people in Los Angeles, and elsewhere in California, blaming Democrats for the crisis.
Ahead of his visit Mr Trump sent an advance party of officials to the sprawling tented city in Skid Row in Los Angeles, seeking to find his own solution. As the row between the White House and Americas's biggest and richest state broadened, Mr Trump also moved to stop Californias ability to set its own pollution standards for cars and trucks. Jerry Brown, the former Democrat governor of the state, accused Mr Trump of "Stalinism and thuggery" over the emissions issue.
California has long been regarded as an electoral cash machine by presidential candidates. Mr Trump's fundraising event is expected to be held in the Beverly Hills 90210 post code, at the home of billionaire property tycoon Geoffrey Palmer, an early supporter who has already donated over $7 million.

Blacklists are good when Hollywood does them.
Blacklist? Sounds racist or something.
McCarthyism writ large.
Silly actors. You dont work with Trump donors. You work for them.
But failed to see he's accusing others of what the left is doing.
Boycott modern Hollywood.
The Black List redux.
Prepare for war, folks. Leftists will attack you on all fronts. Finantial, physical, your job, through government, through character assassination and any other way they can make you submit. If you do not, they will eventually try to kill you.

Ha, lots of funny comments and tired observations.
No suggestions of activism, disrupting premiers and stuff like that.
No sinking to their level, the right is better than that.
Right on!
I predict Trump will have the largest donations haul in history
Hollywood is going the way of the NFL....Disney was the only studio to have good year at the box office....that’s because of kids movies..a lot of there more adult movies faired poorly....
The Stars will keep making money but the studios may not..
EIghty percent of Americans have no idea what is going on..there to buisy raising there kids..
I’ve already stopped working with the Hollywhackos, that is, by not making in-kind contributions to the Democrat party via watching movies at the theater.
No need for war.....if you want them to shut the hell up, send the message that Washington is getting ready to re-regulate the hell out of Hollywood with new ratings and environmental permits so severe, they will need a permit just to do a fart joke. Have Trump send all the mass media companies the message that the government is going to be in charge and threaten to start taking 30 to 40% of their profits to help the homeless in California and for super clean up toxic waste sites from human sewage in San Fran. Once Disney, Xfinity, Sony etc CEO’s all hear that, it will be Milano and her friends on a blacklist, and Hollywood will be the one cowering in 2020!
Only, McCarthy was right and Hollywood still
has lots of Commies
why doesn’t the journalist ask why would “celebrities” be against a Trump economy that has benefitted working people?
And people wonder why I quit watching TV and going to Movies 30 some years ago.
PS. Nobody in Hollywood has ever allowed their children to watch the crap they produce
I LOVE your idea!
Or, "Wouldn't a successful trade treaty with China allow more American movies to be show there, and benefit you and your industry?"
