Other folks may have suggestions for VPNs and blockers.

If you have your computer running through a router then you don’t need to run a VPN. It would just be redundant at that point.

VPN’s hide your location, routers do not. With the Red Flag laws coming on board, get hidden.

Routers hide you IP address. Yes they do.

With a VPN router, yes. A standard router, no. You are seen online and locatable.

You’re right, it would need to be a business router with VPN capability.

Can your router spoof your IP address and make it appear to originate in another country ?

I no longer regard Firefox as a privacy browser. The introduction of Pocket and the Firefox accounts they want all users to set up tells me they are vacuuming up data just like the socials. Also, a free VPN gives you no privacy. The only thing it does to let the VPN provider make money selling your browsing data instead of your ISP.

Ever since Mozilla fired Brendan Eich they have IMHO gone over to the dark side. Use Brave and a good VPN provider that is paid for by your monthly fees.

If they do, they are keeping it close to the vest. PIA has already been to court. NO logs.

It would be big news in the VPN community if VPN users were being arrested for political speech or some insidious crime.

Good VPNs, such as ExpressVPN, are based out side of US or Europe jurisdiction.

Ghostery is an excellent tracker blocker.

Daily Mail is known for trackers, unwanted popups and general garbage.

I just went to their homepage. Ad Block Plus is reporting 229 items blocked and Ghostery is blocking 18 trackers. Beware.

Just FYI for people thinking about getting a VPN as I recently was. If shopping for a VPN read up on criteria (jurisdiction location, logging etc). I would avoid free VPN services as the adage goes “if you’re not the customer, you’re the product.” A good site for some basic info.

https://restoreprivacy.com/best-vpn/

After studying I narrowed my choices down to ExpressVPN, SurfShark and NordVPN (not Norton that Hannity plugs alot).

I kept hearing positive things about surfshark so I bought a 2-year sub for 1.99/month via their website (that price is still active). Surprisingly the 2-year deal for 47.76 was cheaper than the 1 year deal (71.88), so why not. It’s 500+ servers, has been open-audited and certified no logs and operates on RAMdisk. I have experimented so far with various US and European servers and been pleased with the speed.

I’m no expert but just adding my two cents having recently added the VPN service at home.

I eliminated Mozilla Firefox and everything associated when they screwed with then-CEO Brendan Eich.
I will have nothing to do with anti-Catholic Know-Nothings.

I’m not Catholic but I did the same thing as you for the same reason.
