Probably the greatest problem facing America today (and one given to us by craven, self-serving politicians and their equally craven media) is that we are such a completely divided people that we cannot even agree any longer on what constitutes a crime.
What is sedition to one side of our divided population is considered patriotic heroism to the other. And there is no place the two meet. We consider the Russia Hoax an extreme case of sedition, even calling it a coup. The other side considers that to be the heroic action of patriots attempting to save the nation from a racist overthrow by Trumpists. That side considers acts restricting open borders and mass uncontrolled immigration to be extreme anti-Americanism (“we are all immigrants”) and racist, our side considers it to the defense of the nation on behalf of its citizens.
There is no meeting point between the two roughly equal sides. There is no commonality that make us “countrymen”. When such a state of affairs occurs there is no standard of law that will apply. There will be two completely different standards based on the position of those individuals implementing the law.
Just like Lincoln, Trump is left trying to preserve a nation that is irreparably split. And eventually one side must win and one must lose. And there will be a flash point for all this that must occur at some point. I would look to the recent words of the venerable dress-wearer Robert Francis and Hooker-In-Chief Kamala if you were taking book on where exactly that flash point might be.

It’s not even “our side.” Judging by this thread I would say half of our side are happy to move on from POTUS and vote for their favorite pet beltway career politician “conservative.” And conservatives probably only make up at most 1/2 of the GOP. So basically 1/4 of the GOP cares about this stuff. Don’t think Mittens and the rest of GOPe aren’t making that calculation also, when the undermine POTUS.
