We just heard from NASCAR on a number of gun related ads and unfortunately, due a gradual shift in NASCARs position on guns, these ads must be edited/changed especially those that are depicted as assault-style rifles/sniper rifles. NASCAR is still open to some of the less controversial gun accessories, concealed carry, or classes.

I really meant that.
From the viewpoint of others in society, meaning voters, corporations and politicians (govt), doing nothing is not acceptable.
Having guns to fight off left wing militias in the dark of night doesn't really address the soccer moms concerns at the moment. The soccer mom wants to feel safe going to Walmart and she doesn't. The soccer mom wants to feel her kids are safe when they go to the movies.
It's fine for you as a private citizen to claim you need guns to fight off left wing militias, but that won't work as an explanation from a politician or a corporation.
Do you really think that when a politician stands up in front of 1,000 voters at a town hall meeting one night and is asked what is the solution to these massacres, do you think it is acceptable for the politician to respond by talking about left wing militias. Other than saying, guns don't kill people, the politician has to have a solution.
It would appear too cold and unfeeling not to have a "solution". No one wants to get gunned down going to a grocery store or church or to a movie, do they?
So if you are a politician standing in front a 1,000 voters and asked what is your solution to the massacres, what would you say?
It definitely BEGAN it’s decline then. It died when Jeff Gordon retired. All these assinine rules changes began after that.
Last week NASCAR had their annual race at the Indianapolis 500 speedway.
The speedway has 257,325 seats.
Of those I’d say maybe 30,000 seats were filled at best.
Seems every week the stands are half empty.
NASCAR is going the way of the NFL in fan support.
Oh well,
Wanna know just WHO FUCKED up NASCAR, THIS Soft Handed PUSSY BASTARD!

Have you seen the all the empty seats at tracks this year?
Have you not noticed the decline in primary sponsorship of cars which has caused fields to be reduced from 43 to 40 entries and even then gone unfilled?
Have you not seen that from week to week the paint schemes (wraps) on cars have been changing so as to make them unrecognizable?
Do you not know that there will be no titled sponsorship for the Cup Series next year (e.g. Winston, Nextel, Sprint, Monster Energy) because corporations realize their advertising money is wasted there?
IMO, this is all largely due to the organization being run by a drunken, pill popping, third generation waste of flesh. Whether the people running NASCAR now will be able to ressurect the game after current contractual obligations are met remains to be seen
He isn’t called “BRAINLESS” for no reason!
There are still enough fans addicted to it that they are apparently not worried yet. Or they would not have capitulated as they did.
Tracks worry more about the in-house attendance than NASCAR. After next season the contracts with a lot of tracks runs out. There will be changes.
Or they would not have capitulated as they did.
NASCAR has been hemorrhaging cash for years. The product has suffered, popularity has dropped and now NASCAR sponsorship is no longer a sellers market.
NASCAR is in an existential bind right now. Bow to what the remaining and future sponsors want or go belly-up. The corporate sponsors DO NOT want association with guns. NASCAR wants those corporate advertising dollars.....rock, meet hard place.
“So if you are a politician standing in front a 1,000 voters and asked what is your solution to the massacres, what would you say?”
I would explain that although mass shootings are relatively rare they receive a great deal of media attention designed to promote hysteria. I would tell them the odds of them or their children being killed or injured in a mass shooting are less than 1 in a million (a very rough guestimate). As for banning semi auto weapons I would point out how many millions of them are owned in the country and how few are used in crimes. I would point out how unfair it would be to confiscate the property of the many millions of innocent people that own them as well as the fact that the ownership of these weapons is constitutionally protected. I would also state that semi-auto weapons have been around for over 100 years (and AR15s for approx. 70), and that mass shootings are a relatively recent phenomenon. I would propose studies to find the cause of the mass shootings including the effect of violent movies/ video games which may insensitize impressionable young minds to murdering their fellow citizens. I would also propose looking into whether the widespread use of psychoactive drugs and antidepressants prescribed to young people may play a role.
These are a few of the many things that can be done to appeal to reason rather than be stampeded to foolish actions by the “we have to ban something” crowd.
