Go to task manager and see if there is something running that is using up all your system resources.

I did that days ago. Nothing is using copious amounts of resources. Not even my FF browser.

Not yet, but I just loaded a diagnostic tool at that site, and it's disappeared into my system. Can't find it to run it.

One other thing you can try is Belarc Advisor (it’s free)

https://www.belarc.com/products_belarc_advisor

If you are missing a hotfix or something, it will usually give you a direct link to the download without having to run MS Update.
