The squirrels will always find a way to beat the bird feeder countermeasures.

Made that comparison back in 2016 actually, using side by side pictures.

I believe they are both from the Hebrides, back a ways. Vikings settled there in 900 AD.

Pheasant are starting to come back here in Iowa. Numbers are still very low. Nothing like when I was a kid 50 years ago.

I’ve got a six acre front lawn with a nice fescue bluegrass mix

Deer like to lounge in it when it’s puffy I guess like carpet

I come home late night and hit my brights and there might be a large group of splittails and kids

Another night a group of bucks ....some with mount worthy 15-22 inch spreads and ten inch tynes and four by fours or even a six by six

If I don’t goose it they just lie there like deer and watch me drive by

They know they are safe in my yard.....they wouldn’t be at deer camp

A pile of dead squirrels at the hand of my .177 air rifle would strongly disagree if they could.

Four years ago, three dead deer on my property. Tips. Use a tarp and a pitchfork, the deer carcass will disintegrate upon handling. Don't expect help from your family. Be prepared to vomit if you have a hangover. Call your local animal control.

The other day I was going through our neighborhood and it was like the movie “The Birds”, only they were magpies. In all my days in our area, I’ve seen a few here and there pretty regularly, but never a hundred. Truly creepy.

Yes, in Pennsylvania in the early ‘70’s. My dad had to stop the car because we were on a rural back road at a lake, and the damned things wouldn’t get out of either lane. There were six or seven. Dad could have sent them spinning off like bowling pins - they didn’t seem the least bit concerned about two tons of real, Detroit-built Chrysler station wagon. I gotta admit, they are pretty birds. And tasty.

We’re proud to offer local deer an all-you-can-eat backyard salad bar. Typical comment from the wife...”Well, I lost my hosta last night...”.
