Gov. Kay Ivey joined executives of DaikyoNishikawa US (DNUS) and local leaders at a groundbreaking event to officially launch construction on the auto suppliers $110 million manufacturing plant in North Alabama.
The DNUS facility, which will produce plastic automotive parts for the Mazda Toyota Manufacturing U.S.A. (MTMUS) assembly plant, will employ approximately 380 people at full production.
The groundbreaking ceremony was held at the site on the MTMUS campus where construction crews are poised to begin work on DNUS first U.S. manufacturing plant.
Im proud to welcome another great Japanese company, DaikyoNishikawa, to Sweet Home Alabama, and I know that together we will build a lasting partnership, Ivey said. Today marks another pivotal moment for Huntsville as it becomes the next vital production hub for the global auto industry.

If you look at the article, this is the first time that this particular Japanese company has opened a plant in the US, a situation which is often an interesting experience for all involved. Less so nowadays, perhaps, since most of these Japanese companies have also set up shop in China which is even more of an interesting experience.
If you think Im dissin the Bama boys rest assured thats not the case.
Work in a field of fairly advanced technology and one of our fav partners is located in Huntsville. Never considered them the junior partner by any means and all the people I worked with were outstanding and highly respected. Most are good friends
Spent a lot of time in Huntsville and some of the finest people I have ever met.
The Japanese ex pats will be very happy there, especially when find out what kind of house they will be living in
According to Lazy Americans and Dems - they hate jobs...😋
Keep going down I-85!
The huge Hyundai assembly plant is in Montgomery.
The supplier plants go all the way to Montgomery and beyond. Auburn-Opelika is the epicenter.
I believe Hyundai owns KIA.
Yes, I haven’t been to Montgomery to see that. Just see Kia and all the supplier plants on my way to visit friends at Lake Martin. And I think you’re right on Hyundai owning Kia, but it might be the other way around. Same ownership in any case, like VW and Audi, or Chevy and Buick.
Lake Martin!
I live in Tallassee, just south of there!
Thanks for the info - I’m a transplanted New Yorker (Rochester) who was dropped in MS in ‘86 by the AF - proud to be a “Southerner” (never will get the vocal inflections right) these days.
