At 42 I could run a 5 minute mile, do 100 pull ups easy in 4 minutes and bench more than twice my weight....unfortunately career obligations, orthopedic surgery, and lack of discipline in regard to diet and exercise the last couple years have probably cut all that by 50%

Brady is certainly unusual, but there have been QBs in the past who played past age forty. And even though QBs do get hit, they get hit far less than most any other position other than kickers.
Here is a list a other QBs who played to forty or older, though none approached Brady’s success.

Brady doesn’t get hit nearly as often as most QBs. The organization makes sure he has a quality offensive line most years to protect him and he gets rid of the ball quickly.
Watch the series “Tom vs. Time”. He does it by constant practice, rigorous exercise and a willingness to take instruction.
He doesn’t kneel when the Anthem is played. Saves wear and tear on the knees.
