I remember the GWOT mission and with the bad economy, word spread fast to get on disability before getting released. Lots of PTSD. And sure, many were genuinely troubled.
While that is horrible on many levels. There is not an easy way to weed certain ones out without doing more damage to those trying to get help that needs it. Maybe some wise folks will find a way.
I’m just Joe Schmo. I’ve said some things about this that some may find harsh, can’t do anything about that. But, as I’ve stated, I’ve listened to and taken part in some of these conversations with co-workers and former co-workers. One of my nephews refuses to claim it even after the VA Pimp, pretty much brow beat him with it. When he talked to me about it, all I said is....If you truly have it, then you deserve it. If you’re doing it for the free money, then don’t talk to me anymore.
The system is ripe for abuse, as is all of the systems our government has set up. And some of those systems are utter failures but still seem to be clinging to some type of life support.
All that being said, until this country can, once and for all eternity, solve the immigration-refugee-birthright citizenship-asylum-H1B/H2B visa-student visa-visa overstayer mess, and get rid of all of these people that are here, or trying to get here for no other reason then to get a check, then these Vets can get what they get. That may sound completely contradictory to some of my other comments or my thoughts on the matter, but there are two things about the Vets that none of the aforementioned grifters and scam artists have....they’re not US citizens and they didn’t volunteer to serve in our military.
