The disability band wagon left the station quite a while back and we now have a huge number of people who would never have been considered disabled in previous generations. A large percentage of former military personnel have fallen into this trap. When they go to the VA they even have personnel counseling retired people to claim that they have PTSD so they can get more money even if they are not complaining about problems. Whenever people start depending on government handouts for their livelihood it is bad for them.
I'm an Army vet from 1985. The company where I work hired an Army vet from 2010ish who faked a back injury and received a ton of money for life from the Army. I think he got 85% of his pay. He was a terrible employee who lied about the work he did and we had to fire him. No I'm not in favor of giving him more things for free.
PS: I got very very little for free after I got out.
