I think you meant JFK. He gave Mexico some land along the Rio Grande in El Paso. The river had shifted course and some international arbiter or court declared that the land belonged to Mexico. I remember my mother being outraged at what Kennedy did.
We’re going to build a wall around Greenland and make Denmark pay for it.
Totally correct. Apparently there is no FR rule that only recognized legitimate publications can be posted. So every blogpimp, to use an expression, uses FR for their distribution source.
Time to make some early reservations for the Greenland Trump Hotel and golf course...
In public socialists act like thry don’t need capitalist funds.
In private they’d love to sell Greenland so they could get billions to waste on social programs.
Wouldn't it be more like Guam; a US territory?
Possibly. If the people of Greenland are dumb enough to accept territory status. Texas went Statehood from the beginning. Why would an independent country settle for anything less? Again, my statement is based upon Greenland first voting and receiving recognition as an independent country.
No, Greenland over Hong Kong any day.
Okay, maybe not you but I knew this would be the case a few days ago when I wrote "I bet you if the US offered each of the 56 thousand residents something like $100,000 tax free, plus US citizenship, and promise of investment, plus some billions to Denmark, we could buy Greenland. Greenland residents would love to get the money, the investment, and US citizenship. It would be a big win all around." Trump didn't even have to offer the residents money. I'll be very curious to see if the whole idea of purchasing Greenland from Denmark and offering US citizenship to the 56 thousand residents goes anywhere. It would be an incredible addition to the US, much like gaining Alaska.
Greenland is NOT an independent country no more than Puerto Rico is. They are a part of Denmark and the very few people there have some autonomy, that is all.
More states? Its already past time to give California back to Spain. :)
It would be ironic if we got Greenland for free with their autonomous people voting to boot out Denmark altogether and joining the US
Delaware? Swedes ceded to Danes, Danes to British, British to the U.S.
GRexit!
That's not what he said. He said because the Prime Minister was so quick and concise to point out Denmark would not even negotiate there was no reason to hold a meeting now so he was postponing it. To President Trump negotiation is diplomacy. You don't perfunctory tell him you will not negotiate about anything. Bang!
“The socialists in Denmark have been virtue-signaling about how theyre preserving the place, being good eco-stewards, blah blah blah. Meanwhile, for the locals, the place is a zero-opportunity dead end. Joining the U.S. would be the best thing that ever happened to the natives.”
I dunno about that... you might want to ask the citizens of Nevada and Alaska about how the Washington bureaucracy affects development in their states.
Wow. You SO MISSED the point of my previous sentence. Did you even read it?
Would you not agree that if a majority of people in a specific place vote for independence, then they should be allowed status as an independent country?
If not, then how could we recognize countries like Panama that voted independence from Columbia, Ukraine and all the other Baltic States that voted independence from the USSR, and other nations around the world?
If Greenland voted for independence from Denmark, then we could recognize it as an independent country, could we not?
