So the population of Greenland is just slightly north of just 56,000 people. That's not a lot of people at all, especially considering the size of that massive island which is actually the 12th largest country in the world in terms of area - which is 836,000 square miles.
Now that's more than 15 square miles per inhabitant. So pretty much every resident of Greenland could own a Manhattan size chunk of land. If they wanted to. For much of it is ice and nothing really grows there.
For comparison, if each American citizen was to get an equal size chunk of land, it would only amount to about .012 square miles per citizen. And that includes Alaska.
So there has been some chatter about President Trump wanting to purchase Greenland from Denmark for the United States.
Actually I'm thinking that Trump and his buddies are having a good laugh about this this weekend. They probably sat around last weekend thinking up another way to drive the Left utterly insane.
"Say Mr President...what do you think we float an idea that we want to purchase Greenland from the Danish? That oughta fire people up for a news cycle or two..." (to much laughter all around). So there you have it. Somebody on Team Trump won a bet.
So I continue to spend a lot of time listening to the Yacht Rock station on Sirius radio. These songs, mostly from the 1976-1982 period, sound good in summer, especially when out on the water in a boat. In my case, a rental pontoon boat because as well off as I think I am, a proper yacht is somewhat beyond my reach.
So one thing I notice is that there is close to zero female vocalists in Yacht Rock. Not sure why that is. Mostly you get Christopher Cross, Michael McDonald, Kenny Loggins, Steely Dan and even some Toto. But almost no female artists whatsover.
I did hear "Midnight At The Oasis" by Maria Muldaur on the Yacht Rock station. A decent song but questionable as a Yacht Rock song. Sorry, but not Yacht Rock. Maybe Stevie Nicks could do a decent Yacht Rock song and "Gypsy' comes close to that Yacht Rock feel. But not quite Yacht Rock.
So sorry ladies, but I think Yacht Rock is basically a guy thing. For guys who are laid back, anyways. And I'm way laid back this summer.
That's because it's my first summer of living in a condo. No yard work and in fact nothing at all to do outside except sit on my patio waiting for the maintenance guys to come mow my grass. But they hardly ever come! I have a ground level condo facing the back where the woods are and there is this narrow strip of grass that I can walk out to from my patio. I think they have come to mow it maybe three times all summer. Right now, the grass is ankle high and full of grasshoppers. So no, I don't have to mow the grass but nobody else seems to be doing it either. Though they are mowing the front of the building every single week.
I guess I could complain to the HOA board but I'm just too laid back this summer.
So anyway, Luke Combs has rocketed to stardom in the Country music arena. I'm going to catch his show at Mohegan Sun later this year. He's definitely more of an old-time country artist and pretty much cannot write a bad song.
But I've been noticing, most of his songs mention drinking. I just checked the lyrics on his songs and more than half of them mention either beer or liquor in the lyrics. Mostly beer, but whiskey, wine and moonshine get mentioned as well. Which could explain in part Luke's massive success. He's mostly singing about good ole boys having a good time. None of those sugary ballads that permeate modern country music these days on the whole.
Good for Luke Combs. I raise my Solo Cup to you Luke!
People laughed at the idea of buying Alaska. A long time ago.
You wrote this?
It’s quite professional :)
The price came out to about two cents in acre.
A bargain at twice the price!
Though someday, I'm going to put it all behind a paywall. Maybe then I can rent a yacht instead of a pontoon boat.
Long neck ice cold beer never broke my heart!
Luke Combs and Chase Rice played football for A.C Reynolds High school in Fairview North Carolina its 10 minutes to downtown Asheville NC.I live about 30 minutes away from Asheville Reynolds is one of the best class 3a football programs in the state. Its hard to belive 2 Country music stars from the same school I belive they graduated about 3 years apart with Chase going on to the University of North Carolina on a football scholarship ,he also was a tire changer for Jimmy Johnson Nascar team...
So I think you missed starting a couple of sentences with the word “so.”
(kidding!)
So what, I would probably say to that!
LOL
It’s very professionally written. I thought I was reading an article in a magazine.
A yacht would be nice :)
Not for me. I’m out of place in the tub.
Fairview still has the flavor of the way it used to be before Asheville turned into the devil.
