Understatement of the day, Ann Archy.

In some ways, I really feel bad for the President. Who the hell can he trust? He doesn’t know any of these people. He can only go on the words of others. Quite a few of picks, who came from outside the political world, turned down the offers, withdrew when it was clear the professional politicians were going to do everything to oppose them or they felt that they couldn’t cleanly break away from their private business dealings. So far, other than Ross, Lighthizer, Mnuschin, Dr Carson and now, Pompeo, everyone sucks. I mean Perdue, Perry, and whoever are bit players in the grand scheme of things.

But it seems like all the other high profile picks have done nothing but undermine him. It’d probably be amazing what the man would be able to accomplish if he had some legit help.

No, I do not give PDJT a pass for populating his inner circle and cabinet with swamp creatures. Sure, plenty bowed out because they didn’t want to deal with a hostile media and Democrat party. Still, there are plenty who would sacrifice just about everything to save this country.

I guarantee you if the President chose ONLY from the pool of patriots that make up the FreeRepublic family, he would find enouth - more than enough - willing players to go to battle.

That is all he ever had to do. No more, and no less.

And as for those who claim “experience, experience! What about the political experience?!”, to that I say, take a look where that experience got him (and us) so far.

"Who the hell can he trust?"

"Michael S. Rogers is a former United States Navy admiral who served as the second commander of the U.S. Cyber Command (USCYBERCOM). He concurrently served as the 17th director of the National Security Agency (NSA) and as chief of the Central Security Service (CSS) from April 3, 2014." ~ wiki

"On Thursday November 17th, 2016, NSA Director Mike Rogers traveled to New York and met with President-Elect Donald Trump."
"On Friday November 18th The Washington Post reported on a recommendation in “October” that Mike Rogers be removed from his NSA position"
"NSA Director Admiral Mike Rogers may have notified Team Trump of Obama’s Intelligence Community (James Clapper and John Brennan) spying on their activity." ~ conservativetreehouse

There must be other real patriots that have yet to be identified.

I think Trump sees a lot of his picks as transition people. He's told us he likes people in the "acting role" as in "Acting Secretary of State" and so forth.

Rex Tillerson was called in because he was a known figure to Russia and the Middle East. Early on, it was important to establish initial trust and that led to the big summit in Saudi Arabia.

But it was pretty clear that Tillerson had outworn his welcome, so Pompeo was brought on -- a sterling pick.

Same goes for Mattis. Under his watch ISIS was destroyed, but soon after, it was time for someone with different skills.

Yes, it's a helluva challenge taming the Permanent State, but as long as key figures like Barr come through, Trump will continue to move the MAGA needle.
