Full Title: Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick on El Paso Shooting: "What Do We Expect" When Kids Play Video Games Instead Of Going To Church?

Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, a Republican, told "FOX & Friends" Sunday morning that the mass shooting the previous day at an El Paso Wal-Mart was partially the result of the murderer living out a "super-soldier fantasy" he had learned from the video game series "Call Of Duty."

"This was maybe a video game to this evil demon. A video game to him. He has no sense of humanity, no sense of life. He wanted to be a super soldier, for his Call of Duty game," he said about the shooter. "As long as we continue to only praise God and look at God on a Sunday morning and kick him out of the town square at our schools the other six days of the week, what do we expect?"

"How long are we going to ignore at the federal level... something about the video game industry?" Patrick asked....

"So we need to look at all of this and who we are and as long as we continue to only praise God and look at God on a Sunday morning and kick him out of the town square at our schools the other six days of the week, what do we expect? What do we expect? There’s no excuse for this. We condemn it totally, but as a nation, we have to look at this and leave all of the politics out of it."

Too cold.

Can a warmer lake, say, lake Havasu be substituted?

Please try to stay in the 20th century - ya know, "apples & oranges" and how it relates to the cultural rot that began in the 1960s.

I'm surprised you haven't used violence from cavemen daze to support your theory...

Can’t argue that either.

I believe the govenor makes a good point, while video games are not the
only evil they are one, and it is not what kids are doing
which causes the problem, it is what they are not doing.

They are completely with out responsibility, if you see a kid cleaning
up the yard you have seen a unique child, the video games them selves
are not evil but the evil which is the parents fault are the kids being
on them all of the time, kids need to learn work and responsibility at a young
a young age.

The reason so many young people are working at fast food joints is because
Parents let them lay in bed and play on the computer instead if teach them
what God has told us to do, if they don’t learn it in college they don’t know
how to pour sand out of a boot, they are utterly worthless.

Roe V Wade ushered in a violent plague on this country and the youth of the nation are most affected. Since then 1971 violence has gripped our society and the regular mass shootings are a direct result.

1700 abortions a day.

You can pass all the gun laws you want but it won’t heal a generation of desensitized angry people.

“Texas Lt, Governor Dan Patrick (R), you are doing a disservice to your constituents (and rest of the nation) by blaming the shooting on a video game.”

Yes, Patrick is FOS here. What he said here makes him and by extension Conservatives look stupid. How about talking about good parenting and letting someone know when you have an inkling that your kid is mentally disturbed. Thus far, in both shootings, nothing has been said about the shooters parents and family ( except for the fact that the Dayton guy killed his own sister). Much of what’s wrong in America today is directly traceable to the lack of good parenting, coupled with the $hit purveyed by the “government screwls.” The “rise of multiculturalism” hasn’t helped either. I grew up in an “all white,” middle-class neighborhood in Northern California in the 1950s and 60s. There was no crime, and no one ever got shot. But those days are long gone, thanks to the non-white trash that’s been “infused” into our culture. I have lived about ten miles from where I grew up for the past 50 years. Now when I go to the local Costco, it looks like the Middle East/India ( there aren’t many Hispanics). These people try their best to $hit on everyone, trying to cut the line, daring you to challenge them. Lots of women with head scarfs with their gaggle of little $hit kids dressed the same way in tow. I think we may have already f*cked ourselves out of our own country.

I would add that they are also inflamed by social/main stream media. All of the posts on Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, all of the pundits. It is a constant stream that gets people worked up.

These mentally ill young people need to be sequestered and have those information streams cut off. Particularly when they are being medicated or the medication is being modified.

Institutionalization needs to make a comeback.

The moral period in America is shorter than the bad times.
Be glad you enjoyed the peak. Hopefully we can return.

Agree!

My late father was very prescient about the modern MSM & he saw the rise of the ‘social media”.

His comments:

1. 7 X 24 MSM: There is that much “news”? If by “news” you mean information and not noise. I see an hour of news & 23 hours of noise! Very few things that I need to know that can’t wait a day.

2. “Social media” : All this is going to do is encourage people to be rude idiots! I don’t need to know what you had for breakfast!

The video games are only a small smattering of the real problem. The flesh, when left to it’s own devices will feed on a steady diet of evil. If the God-given soul that’s supposed to control the flesh is shredded to a point of near non-existence, then the flesh will inevitably win out and carry out it’s darkest desires.

There truly is an ongoing battle of good versus evil in this world. Lying, cheating, greed, selfishness, violence, many more negative attributes... all of it evil. As prophesied, it seems the world is an upside down place these days. I guess we’re on the way to hitting rock bottom. And as I like to say: “Satan, laughing, spreads his wings!”

Riiiight. And before computers, all the crazy people were inspired to shoot people because they played too much “Cowboys & Indians”.

“both shooters were avid video game players”

I bet they were also both males between the ages of 18-35. You want to guess the percentage of males between 18-35 who are “avid video game players”?

Someone should check out how many millions play video games compared to the population of real life shooters who also play.

Minuscule at best. Throw in all the other forms of mental illness / grievances against society these individuals possess and I think there would be a higher correlation.
