At the risk of sounding racist here I have worked with and know dozens of Puerto Rican people all my life. For the most part they're decent, hard working, even patriotic. But they seem also to have been infantilizied at some point to expect the US government to be some kind of Big Father and give them everything they want and at the same time guilty of every deficiency in their lives.

Funny you mention that. I’ve noticed that trend as well.
I guess if you are considered a spoiled step-child after a century or so of “territorial rule” and you get all sorts of goodies thrown your way, that mentality just gets ingrained.

With Cubans, the contrast is stark. Like they came from another totally different gene pool.
