To the editor — Sadly we see other Northwest cities fall in line with the national trend of violent intimidation and personal bodily risk for regular citizens to engage in safe basic free speech. I hear people on the left preach for decades that they were champions of free speech. It appears to me that the only free speech they really are insisting on is theirs.
Last week I was standing on the corner of River Road and 40th Avenue waving a Trump sign when a young woman stopped traffic to yell vile and vulgar comments at me. OK, I can deal with that. But then she turned her car around, came back and threw seemingly everything she could get her hands on until she hit me. She did not bother to remove her identifying clothing from her nearby place of employment during her “attack break.” I will be contacting her employer and have filed a police report with her description, vehicle description and license plate number.
I hope this is not a Yakima trend. I will continue my efforts to support our duly elected president and work for his 2020 re-election.

For anyone like me who didn’t know where Yakima is, it’s in the state of Washington. Eyeballing a map it looks to be 200+ miles away (SE) from Seattle.
It's referred to as the apple capital of the world by some (others say it's Wenatchee, WA).

I love apples. Hard to beat a freshly picked McIntosh or Cortland. They have to be freshly picked in order to be crisp, though. It doesn’t take like for them to get mushy.
Seems like most of the cherries in Michigan supermarkets come from Washington....or at least from the “Pacific northwest.”
I thought outside of Seattle most of the rest of Washington was center/right. Sounds like Yakima isn’t.

Over the last 2 years, I have been reported to my HR manager 4 times as “anti-Hispanic”, “racist”, “white supremacist”, etc.
My employers have always loved me and this never caused troubles. I was reported last week and contacted by our HR manager. She said the increase in such reports is exponential in the last year.
The lesson: Some Democrats want to destroy you personally.
The other Democrats are happy to sit back and watch it happen.
I am not independently wealthy. My name is for me to know and them to find out. Wave a sign but be vigilant and carry concealed.
Someone should organize a Trump Appreciation Day across the country — similar to the first Tea Party (that was fun!). Can they “get” ALL of us at once?

Yeah. I assume you are a younger person than me with little or no dependents. I have been through that 40-50 years ago. I would have done the same thing. Currently I have 2 generations of people relying on me and although I do express myself and my beliefs I do it much more carefully than I did In The 60s 70s. I might carry a sign but if I do, I do so legally armed.

I am 53 with two children who depend on me. I am setting an example for them of what it means to be a rugged individual.
Those that worry about protecting their "things" instead of their individual liberty are part of the problem, not the solution.

There is more than one way to fight these radical lefties, and we can use all the help we can get. Assailing another fellow traveler because he does it different than you isn't what is needed right now.
Disagree. He criticized the specific action of protecting things and the cautiousness of Vaquero.
That’s not just a “different” way. Vaquero may have valid reasons, but we are not liberals where every way is acceptable and everyone gets a participation trophy.
I think it’s time more people stand up. I salute those that do.
