40 degrees is not a freeze.
Oh, and for folks in South Florida, below 40 degree weather is considered a "freeze" although technically it is not. People down here break out heavy winter clothing even if the temperature drops to only about 60 degrees.
Just start a web site that claims all of the Democratic candidates for president say iguanas are good to eat. Problem solved.
Though that is no longer PC.
Put signs in taverns offering a $20 per lizard bounty and Florida Man will take care of the problem.
My two boys would be first on the list
Mother however would forbid it
BB guns are not that effective and don't usually kill the iguanas. The Iguana Man frequently captures iguanas (noose on end of fishing line) that have signs of lots of BB hits. You need at least a pellet gun air rifle. Problem with that is you will eventually have the cops called on you. Or, even worse, a homeowner thinks you have a real rifle and takes matters into his own hands.
Air rifles using pellets are okay for unpopulated areas but in heavily populated areas such as here in Broward County, you are asking for trouble using air rifles to hunt iguanas.
A lot cheaper to let Mother Nature wipe almost all of them out after the next big freeze and then put a permanent $100 bounty on the few that remain. Problem solved.
Iguanas are an invasive species in Florida. They don’t belong here and are damaging the ecosystem.
I didn’t say anything about actually PAYING the bounty. Florida Man don’t think that far ahead...
I’ve heard of people traveling to Costa Rica to hunt iguana with air rifles. Sadly, there were none when I was in S. Florida. A friend came back, recently, and said they’re all over the place. I’m surprised people aren’t eating them.
Ive heard of people traveling to Costa Rica to hunt iguana with air rifles.
There are a few that do eat them. Actually I am thinking of doing the same but must get over my initial revulsion. I remember when I was a kid and I hesitated about eating a raw clam but my father encouraged me to just do it. I did and have loved raw clams and oysters ever since. Perhaps the same will apply to iguanas... But I need to have a lot of rum in me to prepare me for that first time. I am thinking of hunting them with a blowgun. And then grill up iguana tail which is supposed to be the best part.
Make it perfectly legal to hunt them and advertise how good they are on the grill. Broadcast several good recipes in Spanish and English. Publish YouTube videos on how to skin and eat them. Let the low income folks know how easy they are to catch, cook, and eat to save big money on their EBT cards so they can buy more Boone’s Farm, Whipple, or Mad Dog. Yes; I remember those extinct wines. Put the word out they build big muscles and are great for prolonged erections and orgasms.
They will be gone by this time next year.
Teriyaki iguana Jerky. Thats the ticket!
Simple. Offer children $1.00 per iguana tail. Problem solved.
....or iguana “head”. Whatever. You know what I’m suggesting dear hearts.
I wish I was in Tijuana
Eating barbecued iguana....
