Why now? The fact that the Southern District of New York is handling this provides the answer. With the Clinton-Obama-Mueller Collusion Hoax having collapsed, and the Democrat-controlled House investigations going nowhere, the SDNY is now the only real weapon left with which to try to decapitate the Trump presidency. The SDNY is going to try and get Epstein to rat on Trump. That is, they are going to force him to read lies from a pre-written script in open court to once again smear the President as either a pretext for impeachment or to destroy his bid for reelection.
For me, it smacks of desperation. They threw almost the entire apparatus of the Federal law enforcement and intelligence community at him along with almost every major and minor media outlet in the country and failed miserably, to the point that a clear majority of Americans now distrust the media and Congress more than ever, as the President's approval numbers hit record highs along with the economy his policies ignited. Pass the popcorn.
All Epstein has to do is make some comments about Trump being at these parties. It doesn’t matter if it’s true or not, as just the whisper will cause hearings in the Congress and calls for a special prosecutor. This is a Mueller replay.

As far as I’m concerned the GOP has been a dead letter for decades.
Now that Trump articulates everything the GOP USED to be... they are really irrelevant.
The only thing keeping them together and sustaining them IN the political arena is their increasing likeness to the DNC. Otherwise they are unrecognizable AS a distinct political party.
By now, the RNC is indistinguishable from the DNC...I don’t see clear differences between personalities, ideology, language... etc. The GOP has dedicated itself on a path of perpetual loss... and any vote for THEIR candidate is a vote for the Liberal... who EVER he/she is!!
